Ambleside on the Lake is a very clean, comfortable & friendly bed & breakfast venue. The hosts (Frank & Linda) are fantastic. Their wealth of local knowledge provided our getaway with an "all round" experience ie provided a list of restaurants and spa/massage locations that were exceptionally good. The accommodation is brilliant. The view, from the room we stayed in, over looking the lake was very relaxing and surreal. The service is very friendly and unobtrusive. The breakfast was served at the time agreed and was very tasty. The bed and linen were first class and the room was perfect for a couple. What we really appreciated were the subtle items like opening the balcony door (with security screen kept shut) to allow the cool breeze to enter the room and putting on the bedside light so we can return to our room in the evening with the light on. Ambleside is ideal with 3 rooms, 1 oversee's the lake, as does the dining area & balcony that is available to all rooms. We highly recommend Ambleside and would not hesitate to return.

Ambleside is a small place with only three rooms and a lounge/dining room for guest use. My mother and I stayed for three nights and we shared one of the rooms, which has a double and a single bed. Our room was generous in size and well maintained, with an ensuite bathroom. Ambleside is on the quiet side of Lake Daylesford and right across the road from the reserve and the walking track that goes around the lake. At the reserve there's a tap so you can sample the famous waters without going very far. Ambleside is a shortish walk into town, while being just far enough from the main highway so that you don't get traffic noise all night, as you can in some other places I've stayed at. The breakfasts are great and include fruit with yoghurt or cereal and then you can select from various cooked options such as scrambled free-range eggs, bacon and eggs, pancakes and french toast. The dining room has a lovely view over the lake and if you run out of things to do you can relax in the lounge or out on the deck. The hosts - Linda and Frank - are knowledgeable about the area and are glad to recommend places to eat and to visit. Bird life abounds and a friendly currawong visits every morning while the surrounding area is full of blue wrens and various other birds. All in all we had a great time.
