What do you want in a B&B? A clean, quiet bedroom and modern bath but with some charm too? This had it all including a friendly host. You want a lot of extras? Let me count the ways the Gallery B&B came though... Everyone wants a clean modern bath - Gallery's extra was a shower with hand hold spray and instant on hot water. Want a TV - Gallery had TV with DVD player and a large selection of DVD disks. How new were the DVD's? I viewed "The King's Speech." The closet had not a" few" hangers but I counted 16 hangers. The sturdy medal framed beds with duvet in Room 3 were comfortable with extra blankets. In the room was not only coffee and tea but also tea, hot chocolate with chocolates on the pillow and biscuits. Breakfast was per-ordered from a menu that would put room service menus to shame. Expect jelly packets? No, locally produced honey, jams and preserves... Several varieties of breads and local meat sausage, e.g., wild boar to pork with apples to even a vegetarian sausage. You like coffee in the morning? How about fresh brewed? You want a newspaper for breakfast? How about a selection of four different newspapers... The weather looks a little rainy out? How about an umbrella by the door... You want to peruse local information before going out? A large selection of information and guide books of the local area is on a rack near the door... You want to walk to a nearby good restaurant? The Gallery is two minutes from the market square and several restaurants. I recommend the Charles Bistro in Bakers Alley just down the street... You want to be close to the World of James Herriot? How about across the street - that close enough? Gallery B&B has wireless internet but if you did not bring a computer, the local library has computer access just across the opposite side of the market square... You want to be close to public transportation? The local bus service and National Coach stop are at the clock in the market square... We read in the Gallery instructions and information booklet in the room and saw an entry for "Laundry - ask me." So we asked Kathryn and she offered to do our small load of laundry (we arrived from Ireland after an 11 day tour). We came back from touring and found our laundry drying on a drying rack inside our room. How nice was that? As stated in another review, we were staying at the Gallery when another guest ended up at the train station late at night and Kathryn kindly picked her up. This visit was exceptional, even the fact that Kathryn has no cat and thus allowed us to stay there since my wife has allergies to cats. When you check out a web site for a B&B and visit the Gallery B&B on line and read the description and see the photos, you ask yourself, “Is it really that good?” The answer is: Absolutely!
Room Tip: Room # 3 had twin beds.
