On arrival we were greeted by Andrew and served with tea and biscuits. Can recommend breakfast good idea having printed menu to choose your choice the night before, and what a great choice! Our room was kept very clean with a good range of complementary toiletries. For eating out we found the George and the Horse and Jockey were ok,but the Red Lion at Litton is the best place to eat but needs to be booked.Overall we had a great stay at Mermanbarn,Linda and Andrew are great hosts.

“First class accommodation and would thoroughly recommend it.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 September 2010

We were made welcome from the start. The accommodation was very clean and well presented. We had a wonderful stay, Linda & Andrew are to be complimented on thier establishment, it is friendly, comfortable, quiet and clean with excellent breakfasts, we wanted for nothing. It is so good to meet a couple that are so easy to get along with, it seemed as if we had known you for years. This is also an ideal location for exploring the Peak District, we will definately be returning in the future.

“Excellent value for money! Perfect.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 August 2010

I can't think of a single fault! We stayed at the Merman Barn in Tideswell for 3 nights (Saturday to Tuesday) for my partner's birthday and a bit of walking. The B&B has 3 rooms, we stayed in the super king-size room.
I really can't fault this place, I've stayed in various hotels and guest houses and this is probably the best. The photographs don't do it justice.
Our room was a good size, massive bed, tea making facilities and fridge, lots of storage and a walk in wardrobe. The bathroom was clean with a large shower and plenty of big fluffy towels. Excellent view from the bedroom window too.
As for the breakfast, we were spoilt for choice, fruit, cereal, cooked breakfast and as much tea, coffee and toast as you can manage, all prepared fresh (none of this queuing for the buffet only to find it cold or run out).
There is ample free parking to the rear of the property. Make sure you approach via the back roads rather than the village centre as it’s easier to navigate the narrow streets this way. Would I recommend? Absolutely without a doubt, can't wait to go back!
If you're looking for an evening meal, I would recommend the George Hotel in the village centre or the Red Lion in Litton which is about 20 minutes walk away (make sure you book for the Red Lion as this place gets extremely busy).

Once again Trip Advisor comes up trumps with it's rating for Mermanbarn.
Linda and Andrew go that extra mile to ensure your stay is special. A great place that
doesn't disappoint on any front. From the standard of the rooms to the superb breakfast this B&B is first class. Thank you for your hospitality and hope to see you again soon.

“ASTONISHING!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 April 2010

I have just had a second stay at The Merman Barn and it was as good as my first, if not better. Upon entering, the hall was warm and had a rack for wet outdoor clothing & shoes on which to dry. I was welcomed with tea and biscuits and afterwards, shown to my room. The room was immaculate with a super kingsize double bed with attractive clean linen with furnishings to match. The en suite shower room was immaculate with clean fluffy towels ready for use on a warm radiator rack. There was a basket of complementary bathing products in the en suite which consisted of shampoo, shower gel, shower cap, shoe cleaner etc.
A flat screen television, a complimentary tea tray and small fridge graced an attaractive window sill. The tea tray had tea, coffee, chocolate and a choice of high quality biscuits. Inside the small fridge was fresh milk and bottled water. There was an ample cloak room with hangers and space for luggage. A folder containing local information could be found on a convenient chest of drawers.
The breakfast was marvellous. There was a choice of a substantial full English breakfast, various yoghurts, fruit salad and a good selection of cereals and all is located in a very attractive room. The hosts Andrew & Linda offer a friendly atmosphere and information and assistance is willingly forthcoming. The standard of furnishings is extremely high which makes for a very pleasant stay. I shall be visiting the Merman Barn again very soon and would thoroughly recommend it to friends and family.
