I will never ever go back! This place is run by kids. I asked to speak to the "manager" during my stay and could not believe that the clueless 20 year old women that confronted me was actually the manager. the staff In this hotel don't know there lefts from their rights. The food was undercooked, cold and tasteless. The waiter disappeared half way the meal and left me sitting in an empty dark restaurant with dirty plates sat in front of me. The whole hotel was dark dirty and had a very distinctive musky and smokey smell to it. Save yourselves and DO NOT STAY HERE there's many other hotels about and believe me it's worth the extra money !!!!!!

This is a terrible hotel. My room was right on top of the train station. I could hear the trains and announcements all night.
While I was staying there was a 'traveller' group in the hotel who attempted to break into my room. They succeeded in breaking into other rooms which were empty or had people in them. They stole many possessions and the police were called several times. I had to give a statement at 3am in the morning and got 30 minutes sleep for the whole night.
I had to cancel all of my meetings the next morning through lack of sleep wasting £120+ in train tickets. The hotel refunded me and gave me £50 to 'compensate' me for people trying to break into me room.

I was told by the receptionist in the morning that the same trouble had occurred the night previously which makes me wonder 'Why weren't they chucked out? Or better still arrested'

When I arrived my pillows had no cases. The pillows were covered in yellow and brown stains which looked disgusting. I was then given pillow cases which I had to put on my pillows myself. I had a large heavy case which was murder trying to get up the small narrow stairs (no lift)

Upsides? My bathroom was clean and there was a Tesco within walking distance. Breakfast was fine - I didn't eat dinner at the hotel.

Contrary to some of the reviews made by other members, I went to this hotel open minded and I have to say overall it was a particularly pleasant place to stay.

Arrival was fast and efficient, however I did call earlier in the day prior to checking in to check about room allocation and found that they had no record of my booking, despite me ringing the previous week and leaving my fathers credit card details etc. It turned out that they had a power failiure caused by an exploding signal box opposite Crewe Station and several customers bookings had been wiped off the system, apparently this happens "once in a while" - so it is best to check you are on their booking list

Arrival was fast and efficient, the girl at the reception desk was polite and friendly, however due to the size of the hotel it was a little difficult to find my room, and I did have to ask two members of staff (who were polite and willing to help). The room itself was clean with tea and coffee making facilities, telephone, trouser press, fan, hairdryer, TV etc. The lighting was a little odd given that there was once a lamp on the ceiling, one light wasnt working and the lights didnt quite lighten up the room.

The other observation I noticed was that the Kettle, Hairdryer and Fan had labels on them which said "DO NOT USE AFTER 8/11" which was a bit disconcerting. They appeared to be in working order, the kettle wasnt the most friendly of devices to use, as there was no way to tell when the water had boiled.

I used the night porter to request a paper, this was promptly delivered outside my door, and the person who answered was very polite and friendly. Breakfast consisted of continental, (Eggs, Bacon, Sausage, Mushrooms, Hash Browns, Black Pudding, Beans) together with juices, cereals, toast and jams and tea and coffee. The breakfast was enjoyable;the food piping hot and the service was very pleasant and friendly.

To summarise the Crewe Arms Hotel is a great place to go for an overnight stay. I didnt visit the bar or the gym as I was attending a company function elsewhere, the atmosphere and the ambience was comfortable if a little bit quiet at times

The best advice I can give is simply make sure you check your booking and room allocation before arrival/checking in, take time to find your room!

Right next to Crewe station. Large room, well lit, en suite with heated towel rail, clean, desk, TV, 2 chairs, wardrobe, drawer unit, tea & coffee, hairdrier, iron & board, fan. £49. Some other rooms are next to railway, but mostly double glazed. Three course evening meal for just under £10 (without drinks!).
So some of the other reviews may be expecting too much at these prices.
