“Sac Be Hotel in Bonfil - Cancun on a Budget”

This is a great place to stay if you are on a budget and want to see real Mexico while visiting Cancun and the Yucatan Peninsula. $40 a night as of 2/2008.

Right in the heart of Bonfil, about 10 minutes from the airport, about 1/2 way to Cancun. The rooms are okay and the pool in the back is very nice. The beds are small.

The owner is very pleasant, but does not speak English. The hotel caters to budget minded travelers. When you check in you get your bar soap, towels and roll of toilet paper. Walking distance to local stores and restaurants.

Secure - Iron gate in front is locked at night.

Air conditioned!!!

Back in November I tried to book the room on their website but I never got an answer. Apparently they don't work with Internet even though they have an email address.

Anyway when you go to Coba, they will have a room for you. They don't speak a word of English, so brush your Spanish before you travel in the Yucatan in general!

The room was simple but very clean with TV and A/C and we paid US$40 for the night.

Don't be put off by the appearance of the town and the Hotelito from the outside. It is a good experience when you tour the Yucatan and the main thing is that the room is clean.

For dinner, go to "El Bocadito". They have a good pollo or cochinita pibil!
