Stayed 1 night in Dec 2010. We just arrived on the bus from Valledolid. We had our choice of rooms - we seemed the only guests. This accommodation, like Coba itself, is very simple. It is very rural - just one road really leading the ruins around the side of the lake. There are a few villages and houses around, and families seem to have a few animals - especialy poultry and dogs (both noisy in the morning as others have siad - but then I always travel ith ear plugs).
The hotel is 2 storey, with a cabana style shop and restaurant at the front and a a concrete block of rooms opening on to a veranda behind. We paid a small premium for the air con room because it had been hot on our travels up to this point. In fact by 4am it was really cold and we were wrapped in blankets. The room was basic and faded, but clean and quite roomy given there were 2 double beds in it. The bathroom was very small, but again clean and everything worked. We ate at the restaurant in the evening, breakfast and lunch - good simple well prepared food. The family were friendly and helpful - very little English and us very little Spanish but good natured communication with smiles and sign language.
It is about 10 - 15 mins walk past the side of the lake to the ruins. But this was a lovely walk - lots of birds, friendly olas from the locals, a crocodile gliding along the lake. Great place if you are not looking for cushioned luxury.
