“Beautiful Resort”

Spend 10 days at Gran Bahia Principe at end of January. All our requests were granted. Stayed in Villa 23 overlooking Dolphin pool. Close to snack bar, Pools, and favorite breakfast restaurant - La Gran Tortuga. Favorite buffet was Riviera at Akumal. Booked 3 A la Cartes via email wiht Customer Relations prior to trip: Frutos Del Mar (Seafood), Don Pablo (International), and Mikado (japanese). The best was Don Pablo. We enjoyed riding the shuttle around 3 resorts. Grounds are beautifully landscaped. The Staff / Service is wonderful! Could not do enough for us. Definately book Best Day for transfers to and from airport. They are the best.! We also booked an excursion thru Best Day to Xcaret. The evening show "Mexico Espectacular is worth the admission alone. Other highlights were: Sea Turtles, Horse Exhibition, and Dance of the Owl. Went to Akumal Beach snorkelling, as beach is rocky and water was rough in front of Gran Bahia Principe. Would recommend to others if you want to relax and spend time at pool. Will probabely go back to Barcelo next time for better beach, activities, and night shows. Hola!!

“Huge Disappointment”

This hotel - Gran Bahia Principe Tulum, Akula and Coba i>s aspan> HUGE disappointment. We had water running out of ceiling light and when we reported it, no one hurried to fix the problem. We called twice and finally had to walked to the front desk to show them video on the running water on my cell phone. We had our personal belongs ruined due to the water that dipped on them. Then later we had bugs crawling on our personal bathroom items. We were told by the staff you can not expect perfection in Mexico. We had to take a shower in a new room which had bigger bugs crawling on the ground floor, in order to make our 8pm dinner reservation. We returned to Tulum at 11pm and was told we could not return to our orginial room. &nboriginalbsp;had to move in the rain, at 11:30 pm to a new room. The new room was over 80 degrees inside, When asked for a replacement to a simple item, such as a toothbrush. We were told that would be impossible and they would not be bringing us a new one from the housekeeping store room. I was promised by the General Manger to hear back from him that night, instead we never heard from him or anyone, even when we checkout we received no apology, no refund, instead we were charged for toothbrushes!!! Once we returned home I complained to the Gran Bahia Principe Hotel (top) Guest Service Manager, only again to be ingroned, This hotel does not care about it guest and has horrible management!!!! Avoid this hotel unless you like to be miss treated, ignored, and disrespected. Never will be returning to any of these resorts.

Room Tip: avoid this hotel

We stayed in villa 26 and it was very clean, the staff were excellent an the food was awesome. They had fun games to play everyday by the pool and they had shows at the theatre most nights. The beach was awesome, the drinks were good and the disco was so much fun! Lots to do there. I would go back in a heartbeat!

“Wonderful Time!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

We were in the Diamond Club part of the Tulum. It was almost perfect! Room very clean and quite large with balcony over looking ocean in near distance. We can't say enough how great the staff of this complex is everywhere. So friendly, helpful, kind and always happy to tell you about their beautiful country. The beach is a bit rocky in parts but just walk a bit and the swimming is wonderful with large cement barriers to break the waves. This part was great for small children or older adults. We never had an issue with finding chairs or a palapa free at any time we went down. The pools were very warm and their is a bar in the Tulum Diamond area. We ate at the Tequila buffet and the Yuckatan and found them both great. Lots of
choice and prepared very well. I can't understand any complaints. We ate at four a la carte resturants and all were amazing. Service is French style and first rate. I think I liked Don Pablo the best and The Gran Tortuga the least. Too warm for so much meat!Others loved it.The shows in the evenings were very good and always quite different. Although we were a couple we did enjoy the Disco for the children every evening. The transportation between the resorts was fast and we never waited long although we did usually walk after so much food and we wanted to enjoy all the beauty around us.We rented a taxis that took us to the Tulum Ruins,he waited a few hours for us then took us to the town of Tulum and waited while we shopped and then drove us back to the resort.Unbelievable I know and only cost us $650. pesos. Another day we went to ChiChaNitza on a tour bus. They served us breakfast on the bus and a buffet lunch included at a hotel near the Ruins. We also did a quick tour of a Mexican town and square and then visited a Cenote. The only complaint we had was that we flew from Ottawa with West Jet 6 am flight and they wanted us at the airport at 2:30.am. We did not sleep all night, then the flight with terrible and hardly any food, arriving in Mexico at least an hour or more to get through the airport and then it took us two and a half hours to get to the resort!!! There were six stops to drop off people at other resorts. By his time we
were shaking we were so hungry and tired. Thankfully we were so well taken care of from the minute we stepped into the Lobby. We can't wait to go back ! This time we will bring our own food on the plane and look into a taxis from the airport.

Room Tip: Stay in the Diamond Section a really good value and much quieter and greener too!

“Wonderful once again”

Even though the weather wasn't the greatest, the four of us still had a super holiday. Let me start off by saying that the staff makes the place. The people are friendly and warm. The grounds are immaculate and kept that way every day. The food was plentiful and diverse. More than enough selection to make anyone happy. The rooms are ok but who spends time in their room other than sleeping.
This was our third year in a row at the GBPT and we found it very comfortable once again. Our group likes the activities pool and we join in most of the activities with the entertainment team. We know them quite well now and enjoy their antics everyday.
We had ala carte dinners at Don Pablo (our favorite) Mikado (our second favorite) and Mediteranno. All were very good and the waiters were very attentive.
We love this hotel and I wouldn't be surprised to be back again next January.

Room Tip: We were given building 22 3rd floor which had a very nice ocean view and overlooked the quiet pool a...
