Having arrived at Baie-Comeau on the ferry from Matane at 7.20pm, I had wanted an overnight stop somewhere towards Tadoussac. Forestville seemed midway and the Econolodge came up on Expedia and other hotel websites as the only viable option. It was a fairly typical motel-style establishment, rough at the edges but clean and comfortable.
The hotel is in a central position in town, right on Highway 138. There is a main section of building, then a couple of wings with the motel rooms. They have a car parking space immediately outside the room, plus a rear doorway to an internal corridor leading back to the reception.
The room was spacious and fairly cosy thanks to the wood wall cladding. There was a separate bath/wc room, plus washbasin area. It came with most amenities, including toiletries, tissues, iron, coffee maker, etc. Free wifi access was available. There was some noise evident from cars and people in the motel courtyard, but mostly it was okay.
There were evening meals available and breakfast a-la-carte for around C$8 for a hot food option. It was a gloomy room and the food wasn’t great. Staff in the hotel were friendly.
