“Inn Now Closed”

The Inn is now closed and up for sale. The previous owners have left the area.
Once the Inn is sold and given a little TLC I would have no problem recommending it for either an overnight stay or for dining. It is a wonderful historic building with charm and ambience. It has been and will be a gain a great credit to the town of Port Hope.

“Beware Beware Totally Unacceptable Fraudulent Practices”

Please stay away from this business. It will cost you dearly if you use a credit card to reserve rooms or dine in the restaurant. This owner, Niels Lund, uses your credit card for his own beneifits. My two room one night stay there cost me an extra $3400.00 that he deliberately put on my credit card. After numerous phone calls to him, he finally put through two bogus credits to my credit card. My credit card company finally sorted it all out but not after I had to do all the leg work. I am working diligently on having this business reprimanded for these acts. I feel sorry for the town and the other businesses of Port Hope because I will never go back there. I am surprised the law is not involved as of yet !!!!

“Fraud”

There's nothing wrong with the place, except they base their entire business model on FRAUD. The one and only time I stayed there, they charged me for $792 twice, once when I called for the reservation and second time when I went to stay there. At first, I thought it was just a simple mixed up. I called them and he said he will reverse it. Two weeks later, he claim he reversed it, but only to find out that he charged me for the same amount for the THIRD time. At that point, I just filed a dispute with visa and let them handle it.

Now, exactly 6 months later, I got another charge for $810. I can go through dispute with Visa, but this process takes 3 months. It gives the merchant 3 months to produce the receipt. If they can't produce the receipt at that point, then Visa will refund my money back. I can do one of two things - 1. don't pay the amount as there is no way they can produce a receipt but run the risk of ruining my credit score or 2. pay the amount and fund this criminal activity.

What is wrong with these people?!?!?! How can they keep getting away with this?!?!?! Something needs to be done. Perhaps I should call the police on them.

“Dont use your credit card”

The hotel is nice but the owner is a crook, do not use your credit card. They overcharged me by CAN$2,000 and have still not returned it.

“Nice room, great restaurant - but don't pay with your credit card”

I stayed at the Inn with a family group. Having worked in hotels myself, I was a little surprised with the lack of check-in / check-out services offered. We had to find someone to retrieve the key, and no payment information was requests upon arrival. I figured this was because we were part of a group. The room was nice, and charming. When we checked out the next morning, again, we had to find someone, and the employee asked if we were also taking care of the payment for another guest who may have left, which we were not. Isn't this something that should have been arranged before hand with the organizer of the group?
My credit card was charged, and 6 months later, another charge for the same amount appeared on my card. After calling the Inn and speaking with the owner 3 times, the charge was reversed. The business practices of the Inn are horrible.
I did, however, enjoy the restaurant, and will go back on occasion when suggested by friends. From my experience, I will never again pay with my credit card or stay at the Inn.
