“Cosy family New Years with EXCELLENT customer service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

My wife booked us into the Shamrock as she wanted us, our family of four includes our two daughters, aged 13 and 11, to have a nice dinner and a night of dancing. Many places don't cater to an all-ages, family occasion like this. But, the fine folks at the Shamrock Lodge do.

From the experience of the booking through to the duration of our stay, we were impressed by the service.

The room was clean, comfortable and roomy. The 2-night package, which included 2 dinners and 2 country breakfasts, was excellent value.

We enjoyed the indoor pool, the hot tub and the sauna. One day, when the New Year's day weather was teaming rain, we took refuge in a family room with a lovely fireplace. Our host, co-owner Tim, set-up a fire without our even asking him to do so, then took a drink order for all of us.

During the New Years DJ dance, he even urged our daughters to make sure they gave their requests to the DJ so they'd hear the tunes that they wanted to dance to.

They have a games room with a ping-pong and billiards table that were a lot of fun.

Fireworks on the dock for New Years Eve. A welcome bonfire (bring yer own marshmallows).

And winter activities at the doorstep, a snowmobile, cross-country skis to explore the neighbouring golf course, and toboggans to do the same.

I can't stress how impressed we were with Tim's (and his staff's) consistently excellent warm service. They made us feel like we were at a home away from home.

Room Tip: I forget the name of the specific building that we were in (there are a few different ones), but we...

Thanks to David and his family for such a nice review. We had a great time over the New Years. The mix between families and couples were perfect. I think when you have a cozy and homey atmosphere everyone gets to know each other. That is one of the nice things about our Lodge, people get acquainted very quickly. Its always nice to be called by your first name and when you come here you will find that out. The bonfires and fireworks are the norm here and that is another great spot to gather and get to know other guests. When you combine activities, dining and good cheer together you create a very nice holiday. Thanks again and we keep trying to make the lodge feel like your home away from home... Sincerely, Tim and family

“We finally found our spot!”

We've been searching for years, for the perfect place for us to go year after year and I'm happy to say that we've finally found it! Shamrock Lodge couldn't be in a more gorgeous location. The view of Rosseau is what Muskoka is all about. The beach is perfect, the accomodations are more than reasonable and the food is spectacular! We were there over Thanksgiving and were treated to an amazing turkey dinner. My husband, who's a pretty good eater, was done his plate when the server came by and asked if he wanted more. He was treated to a second helping, no problem. It's those little touches that turn an average place into a spectacular one. The owners knew our names within a day and everyone was more than accomodating and friendly. You better believe we'll be back and next time, we're bringing our friends! Thanks Shamrock.

Thanks for submiting your excellent review. Alot of guests have told us that this is a beautiful spot. We are glad to hear your search is over and you and your family will be returning and become one of the many repeat guests we host each and every year. I must say we had the best weather this past Thanksgiving Weekend. The leaves were perfect and the days seemed like summer. Please pass on our thanks to you and your family for coming and discovering us. We look forward to your next visit, and please feel free to post some more photo's that some of your family took over the holiday weekend. Tim Bryant and family.....

“Total Comfort!”

I would recommend this spot to anyone and everyone. I travelled here with a group of 24 girlfriends and was more than impressed with the care and service of the Bryant Family (and Stew). The location is a dream spot in the heart of the muskokas nestled on Lake Rousseau. The view from all of the rooms were breathtaking. We enjoyed enjoyed staying at the resort so much that we cancelled a night on the town in Bracebridge; and opted to enjoy the facilities to the max! Our group created memories that will last a lifetime while staying at the Shamrock; and by far, this was one of the prettiest places I have ever stayed at in Ontario. My hat is off to the chef who created endless meals that were simply delicious. Laura and the rest of the waitresses made every meal that much more enjoyable as they served them with warmth and kindness. Stew did an amazing job of coordinating and organizing our stay - are you sure you aren't related to the Bryants?? :) Whenever any of us asked Stew for anything, his answer was "I don't have a problem with that at all". The level of comfort and trust that our group felt from the owners (Tim, Linda and Gary) was pretty unreal. If you ever need to travel to a place where you could leave your door unlocked without giving it a second thought, this is the place for you. Tim took 2 groups of us out on Pontoon boat rides for a scenic tour that was breathtaking! The nearby little town of Port Carling had some very sweet stores and boutiques that many of our girls thoroughly enjoyed. The only problem I had about my weekend away at the Shamrock Lodge was that it didn't last long enough.

Room Tip: The Driftwood is ideal as it has a screened in front porch so if it rains - no worries about it ruin...

“Couldn't ask for anything better!”

This reallly is a fabulous spot. I would recommend it to anyone -- families, friends, couples, etc. In Sept 2011, 24 of us stayed in the Driftwood and the Tom O'Shanter for our annual Girls Getaway Weekend. The rooms were well kept and comfortable. The views from the rooms and the dock were beautiful. We, too, enjoyed a ride around the lake in their pontoon boat (as well as use of the paddle boats, kayaks, tennis courts, pool etc, all inclulded in the price). The food was amazing. And the staff were even more amazing. Tim, Stew, Gary, Laura (and all the staff) went out of their way to make sure our trip was enjoyable. Whatever we needed, they were happy to help us with. (Even if that meant staying up til the wee hours with us and laughing at our jokes!! You don't find that kind of hospitality everywhere!). Would definitely go back again.

Room Tip: All rooms have lakeside view. Whatever you choose will be great!

Thank you for your kind review. This is a great spot to host a ladies retreat. Our Chef and his staff would like to say thank you too. You can have the most lavish accommodations and spectacular location but without great food the guests will not come back. We are small enough that our Chef and sou chefs make everything right in our own kitchen. From the muffins in the morning to the warm buns at dinner time. These little things go along way, and people can taste the difference. "Amazing" is so nice of you to describe what comes out of our kitchen. Don and Karen and the rest of the staff in the Kichen want me say a big Thank-you for them. Please be sure to come again we all liked the jokes and fun and games you all did thoughout the weekend. Thanks for coming so far to be with us, and from your response i guess we were worth the drive.... Sincerly the staff and family of Shamrock Lodge.....

“Great Location”

This is a really great location. It's family run so has a great feel - far better and with much more character than any chain location. The staff were very nice and helpful (the owner very kindly gave us all a tour of the lake on his own boat) - anything that we asked for they were more than happy to help with. We had the whole place as it was the end of the season and we were certainly made to feel welcome - it's always a good sign when the bar staff are happy to stay up with you into the early hours of the morning! I would certainly recommend it.

Thanks for your great review. The nice thing about Trip Advisor is you can find out just about everything you need to know about a place. You said the Location is Great. And yes indeed it is. We have been told many times how beautiful it is here. And now anyone who looks at your review will know that Shamrock has one of the nicest locations in the Muskoka Lakes Region. And i love to take our guests out on our boats so they can see for themselves the true beauty of this spectacular Lake Rosseau. I have been here for over thirty years with my family and i never take this place for granted. We are glad you found us and hopefully we will see you all again. Sincerly, Tim Bryant and family
