I recently stayed here with one of the hockey teams that I manage and would never recommend this hotel for teams to stay in despite its excellent proximity to the Don Beer Arenas. I manage multiple hockey and lacrosse teams on a year-round basis and have never been treated so poorly by a hotel. They did not seem to want our business in any way. The complimentary breakfast options were extremely limited, as the staff seemed to be rationing how much they put out each day. The hotel was not kept very clean, but I overlooked that to some degree since we were one of three teams staying there. They hotel made our parents put a deposit down for towels to use the pool (certainly not common practice in my experience) and the front desk were constantly calling the room of myself and the head coach threatening to call the police over minor noise issues (which were, in fact, not being caused by our team of 9-10 year-olds who were in bed, but rather by the team of 11-12 year olds on the floor above us. Yet they stationed their security guard on our floor both nights that we stayed there. We did not see him say anything to the older kids who were running throughout the hotel and disturbing us, but each of our parents received letters threatening to kick us out after the first night when we sat quietly in the hall (because there was no common area that was large enough for us to gather).
As for the rooms, I found them to be smaller than hotels of similar quality. The bathrooms were particularly small and inconvenient, but otherwise they were fine. They certainly were not worth the $129/night that we were charged (and that was a discounted group rate).
