“Bed and Breakfast next to a Motel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 October 2011

A large portion of the grounds of an old Victorian house was turned into a motel compound. We were therefore disappointed to discover that the B&B we had booked sat by the road, next to a motel, and that nobody was there to welcome us. Fortunately, once inside the house, everything turned for the best. Our room on the first floor was beautifully appointed, the bed very comfortable (if too high up!), there was a large TV, and, most of all, everything was quiet. A French door opened on the porch, where we could sit in privacy. An excellent breakfast (included) was served at a small popular cafe a few feet away from the B&B, and offered more choice than we would have had in a regular B&B. And the Grand Pré museum was just a few minutes away. I am happy to say that our (too quick) disappointment turned into great satisfaction. This is a very nice B&B.

“Luke Warm Repeat Performance”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 October 2011

This is the second time we went for breakfast at the Evangeline Motel Restaurant and both times we were very disappointed. On our first morning outing in August of this year the service was good, the food came as ordered, and the presentation was nice, but one mouthful told the true story - luke warm. Even the delicious home made pear ginger marmalade couldn't raise the bar.

However, we decided that since we had had a very good dinner on a previous visit we would give the Evangeline Motel Restaurant breakfast another try. Unfortunately, It was a repeat performance. The food arrived luke warm and after a few bites it was plain cold. We are not going back, even for dinner.

“Try their B&B attached to the Motel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 September 2011

Instead of the generic motel rooms at evangeline, we stayed at their B&B on the same property which is an old refurbished house belonging to a former Prime Minister , Robert Bordon. The main floor rooms are cute but only have a double bed, they have a great balcony in front and have been refurbished. Breakfast at the adjoining cafe was good and it was fine for a one night stayover.

“Evangeline Motel - excellent place to lay your head”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 September 2011

I stayed in the motel several several years ago while on a solo trip, so I chose it for a layover for a road trip thru the Canadian Maritimes with my husband. I asked for, and got one of the recently remodeled rooms. The room was very clean, the TV channel selection was good (we got the Patriot's opening Monday night game!). While there were guests in rooms on either side of us, it was one of the quietest hotel/motel nights we've ever experienced. The grounds are very pretty, and the restaurant on the property appeared to do a brisk business, although we ate in Wolfville - just a couple of miles away. There is wired internet in the rooms, and they supply the ethernet cord.

We were very happy with our stay, and highly recommend the place.

“A little disappointed this time”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 August 2011

We have always been happy with our food here. Today, not so much. We arrived shortly after 1 pm and they weren't busy, so we were pleased we didn't have to wait for a table. We ordered very basic things - 1 hot dog, 1 small hamburger, and 1 large hamburger with a cup of soup of the day- homemade corn chowder. And we waited....and we waited.. and we waited. Finally my hubby's chowder arrived. As he described it 'warm milk, utterly tasteless.' The rest of the meals arrived. You know you have a problem when they make sure you have a fork and knife to eat your hamburger with. The large hamburger (4 oz) was overflowing with large slices of onions, fried in butter and very greasy. The plate was greasy and you couldn't even pick up the burger. It was eaten with a fork and knife and all you could taste was onions. For the first time, we didn't stay for dessert.

We will think twice about going back anytime soon.
