“Lovely setting”

The Glendyer exceeded our expectations, even after reading the sort of reviews below. Everything I can think of to say has been well said elsewhere on these pages. I would only add that if you want to maximize the musical experience, be prepared to stay up late; things around here really start happening around 10 pm.

Jill had some great advice on where to go to catch some music, as well as hiking and sightseeing in other places on Cape Breton. We spent 5 nights at the Glendyer. Every breakfast was good and a little different, and we got to meet a variety of people. The road is wide and had been recently graded, so there were no potholes.

“Superb B&B”

The Inn is a few kilometers out of town, but well worth the short drive. The setting is lovely, next to a stream. The proprietress was very helpful, providing us with the locations of the infamous Red Shoe Pub for dinner and information about the Ceilidh across the street. The room was clean and comfortable. I would not hesitate in staying there again.

“Perfect B&B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 August 2011

My husband & I stayed in the suite. The bedroom, sitting room & bathroom were comfortable, immaculate & beautifully decorated. Jill, the owner, was friendly & went out of her way to be helpful. She was on top of all the details that make a perfect B&B. She has a book in the room describing what the B&B offers(a labyrinth & hot tub in the back yard!)& menus from the local restaurants. In the common room there's a coffee & tea maker & a little fridge for guests. Her library is filled with wonderful books. I spent one night looking through 3 sea glass coffee table books. The breakfasts included fresh fruit and homemade baked goods. I highly recommend this B&B!

“Great Place in Mabou”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 August 2011

Really loved this place! Jill Coleman has done an amazing job in restoring and maintaining this inn. She shows great attention to detail in everything associated with the inn, including providing a binder with information in each room, and a daily weather report. We stayed in Room 1. It was clean and bright, with an attached private bath including jacuzzi. Jill served a healthy, delicious hot breakfast. The property has adirondack chairs in a quiet area by a stream, a hot tub, and also 2 donkeys grazing in the back pasture! Conveniently located near the Red Shoe Pub.
