“lovely surprise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 June 2011

Mabou, at the start of Cape Breton houses one of the nicest B&B's I have ever been in. It is a wee bit out of the way on Smithville Road but easy top find if you say on that road. Jill has 3 rooms that are furnished with a comfortable bed, nice linens, large towels (always a plus in my books) and antiques, but the best was the bathroom. Each room has a quality massage bathtub, large and with loads of jets... Jill, a licensed massage therapist, was a lawyer and CPA from California who chose a new lifestyle and I can attest that it really suits her. She prepares a superb breakfast, is a wealth of information and provides a wonderfully comfortable place to stop on your trip around Cape Breton. We loved our stay there and will certainly return and use her outside hot tub on our next visit to that area.

Room Tip: all are nice and all have the same kind of bath

“Beautiful Setting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 June 2011

This was our favorite B&B in Nova Scotia. The setting by the brook is lovely and we could hear the brook from our room. The hostess is very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is ample and served buffet-style with choices that should suit everyone. I particularly loved the blue and white dishes. The Red Shoe Pub is about a five minute drive. We took a walk along the old railway line that follows the creek into the woods. I looked at other places in the area and for a comfortable room with an en suite bathroom and full breakfast, the inn seems well priced. Highly recommended!

“Wonderfull stay, warm welcome, beautifull house”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 June 2011

We stayed here on June 12, 2011 and enjoyed it very much. You have to look for the place (although the signs at the side of the road were quite clear), but we got a warm reception by the owner when checking in.
The rooms are great: spacious, beautifully decorated an very clean.
Every detail was in place and corresponded with the atmosphere of the whole house.

Also the breakfast was very good.

“Wonderful B&B!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 May 2011

We arrived in the evening with no reservation & Jill accommodated us with no problem. We were made to feel very welcome & enjoyed chatting with Jill who shared many interesting stories & gave us some good tips for the Cabot Trail ahead of us. The cottage is lovely & the rooms quaint each with ensuite & spa bath. The 2 miniature donkeys make a welcome site. I only wish we could have stayed longer & enjoyed the many trails in the area that Jill told us about. Next time I hope!

“Best B&B in Cape Breton!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 November 2010

Staying at thie B&B started our love affair with the landscape and poeple of Cape Breton Island. Jill is an amazing host and the location couldn't be more serene. You'll appreciate the proximity to town, trails, and waterways, yet you'll feel like you are miles away at this creek-side setting. It was our favorite stop in Nova Scotia and we can't wait to get back. Caution - you may never want to leave!!
