We just got back from 8 days at the Delta Residences in Sun Peaks. We really enjoyed the hotel. But like any hotel, it has a few drawbacks, nothing major and we would return in a heartbeat. It is attached to the Delta hotel, but is only 7 months old so is in really great shape. We had a one bedroom suite. It has a full kitchen complete with granite counters and stainless appliances. The bed was super comfy and there is even in suite laundry. It was not noisy. There are 2 hot tubs accessible only to residence guest. They are a pet friendly hotel.
They have a ski valet, but only skiis, not poles, boots or helmets. Its a bit of a walk over there from the residences. The valet will also not return your skiis to your room at the end of your stay. You have to retrieve them from the lobby of the Delta Hotel.
The room keys are a bit of an issue because you need them to use the elevator, If your key doesn't work, you have to go outside to get to the Delta to fix the key. There is no service person at the front desk of the Residences. There is also no phone in the lobby to alert anyone there is a problem. You cannot get back to your room to use the phone.
We ate in the restaurant 3 times as it had the best food in the resort. It was pricey, but good. Sun Peaks has a very small village compared to larger ski areas we have been to such as Vail or Whistler. We did a fair bit of cooking as a result of the limited dining choices. Keep in mind there is only one grocery store so if you can, stop in Kamloops or Kelowna(whichever you fly to) and get your groceries there as the shop in the VIllage is pricey. The pizza place is great , but again, only game in town, so 2 medium pizzas (one just cheese) over $40. We made lunches and carried them up in a back pack and left the pack at the top of the lift. There is only one on mountain restaurant.
The skiing was excellent and there were few if any lines. The terrain is vast and picturesque. The mountain hosts were great at showing us around the 3 peaks in the ski area. I will say that I was not impressed by the lift operators. There was tons of garbage around their areas all day long. They also were not that attentive with respect to small kids getting on/off the lift. We were able to ski with Nancy Greene and that was a real thrill for the kids.
Back to the hotel. The gym is in the Delta and is fine. Also there is a pool and 3 more hot tubs in the Delta that residence guests can use. The front desk staff were very friendly. Check in was a bit of an issue with respect to the bell desk. There was nobody there @4 when I checked in. I had to unload and put my bags on the cart myself.
We really liked the set up of the residences and would not hesitate to recommend it or to return.
