Stayed for two weeks in Taber of which a week was at the Super 8. I generally don’t stay in a 2 star accommodation and I struggled a bit. I think for a night or two or if you are just passing through, the accommodations would be fine and are inexpensive enough.
It is a two star so you can’t expect too much I know (2 star is the highest choice in Taber). But I did stay at the Heritage Inn the second week (also a 2 star) and felt much more comfortable there.
The Super 8 is relatively clean and is apparently the “newer” hotel in Taber. The carpet in the general areas (stairs) looks a little tattered and stained, I assume from work boots, etc. The rooms are average size and for the most part are kept clean and livable. My room had a queen bed and a table and chairs along with a recliner that I am sure Archie Bunker would have been proud of. The furniture is of a second hand store quality and appears cheap and mismatched.
The bed was adequate and the sleep was fine. Pillows were thin and unfortunately only two are supplied (I like to have big or multiple pillows for comfort). The room did have a mini fridge and the hotel supplied Movie Central free of charge which was appreciated. Shower was fine but the tub wasn’t very clean…well perhaps it was clean but didn’t appear so as it looked like some stickers/grips had been removed.
The “breakfast” was minimal but was free. It is basically a bunch of carbs, waffles, some muffins, cereal, toast, coffee and juice. I didn’t touch it but I others did. Despite both juices being empty the front desk seemed too busy (personal conversation on the phone) to worry about it.
Overall, if you want a cheap bed to stay for a night the Super 8 is fine, if you don’t mind spending an extra $20 bucks or are staying longer term, go to the Heritage Inn (see my review on TA).
