Was just looking for a place to stay for 2 nights on a job, and this place had slightly better reviews than the Travelodge.
With a better price, I was surprised at how nice it is. Fancy duvets, was given a HUGE room, modern, tidy -- great central location with lots of food and other stores around.
Excellent all around -- too bad other Ramada's aren't this affordable!
My sister and I were just driving home from a funeral and needed a place to spend the night. The only available hotel room in Stony Plain was at the Ramada. We weren't really prepared to spend $160 CAD for one night, but what can you do? We ended up getting the AAA discount, which helped a bit. The room was actually a loft suite, with a tv, kitchen, sofa bed, small table with four chairs and full bathroom downstairs, and two queen beds, another tv and a bathroom with shower upstairs. Both levels had an airconditioner, and upstairs was a large closet to hang clothes. There was also a nice little balcony with a patio table and two chairs. The kitchen had a coffeemaker, toaster, microwave, sink, etc. Of course, it was way too large for our needs, but we both agreed that it would be a great place to come with a family, and stay for a few days. The only bad thing I can say about it, is that it seemed like housekeeping hadn't vacuumed recently. The carpet looked quite worn. There was a pool onsite, which we didn't check out. There was also a really nice restaurant there, called Spiro's Family Restaurant that served a nice breakfast. It was inexpensive, and although understaffed, the server working that morning was like Super Woman. She was great.
The check in staff was pleasant, and our check out was fairly painless, other than having to pay so much. However, if we had been staying with our families, the rate was not that bad for what we received. What's also great for families is that it's not that far from West Edmonton Mall, and I think they even have a shuttle to go there. All in all, I'd say it was a decent experience, and I would gladly stay there again if I had a bit more time to enjoy it.
