My partner and I stayed in this "3 stars" hotel for a week in September of 2010. We knew from the start that it was far from the beach and from the center of Albena, but the distance didn't bother us. I'd had a summer job in a 2 stars hotel in Albena a few years back and had very nice memories of the place, even if, at the time, i stayed in a no-name hotel that only hosted personnel.
Our adventure started at the reception desk. The person on duty on the day of our arrival seemed swamped. There was a serious line in front of us when we checked in, but we thought: "Hey, it's Saturday, it's off season, the first week when prices drop, it' normal." So we waited our turn. I get to the front of the line, the receptionist flat out ignores me after taking our tickets and seeing where we come from, and goes straight to the end of the line to speak to a Bulgarian tourist that just got in. I had been standing there for 15 minutes and she just ignored me. I was about to start screaming for the manager, when the luggage-boy saw my face, he quickly put on our all-inclusive bands and sent us to the restaurant for lunch, saying we could check in afterward.
The room was clean. Aside from the fact that we had asked for a double room and ended-up with a twin-bedded room, aside from the bathroom sink that was about to fall off and the absence of the shower curtain (that would mysteriously appear a few days after we got there), the most important thing was that fact that the room WAS in fact CLEAN.
The food, however, was HORRIBLE!!!!!!! When I worked in Albena as a student I loved the food there:diverse, healthy, fresh, lots of fruits and vegetables, fantastic cakes (I gained some serious pounds at the time). But this time, the food was the same EVERY DAY. And I don't mean just the same kind of food, I mean leftovers. We would find last night's food on our breakfast buffet.
Long story short, we ate pancakes every morning for a week (because they were making them in front of us), some sort of chicken stew at lunch (it was the only sure thing we could recognize) and french fries with ketchup for dinner. FOR A WEEK!!! After paying for ALL INCLUSIVE! We ate out as much as we could. Oh, and the worst thing ever was this crazy spice they put in everything. They claim is traditional, but they put it in everything, from pizza to hamburgers am sausages.
All in all, as far as accomodation goes, our trip was REALLY, REALLY BAD.
Do not go there!!!

Thank you very much for your review. We are really sorry about your bad experience in our hotel! Your opinion is important for us and the information you have provided was carefully considered. We would like to assure you that we have taken measures to improve our services. Hotel Orchidea already has a new chef for the new summer season. Moreover, a food quality control laboratory will be opened in Albena this summer. The lab will test food that is delivered to the resort to make sure that it meets the regulatory requirements, regarding quality and safety, of the Bulgarian and the European legislation. By opening this food quality control laboratory, Albena confirms its policy of delivering high quality to our guests. We really hope that you will visit us again one day :)
