I have been by the Alleghany Inn many times on my travels through Sparta. I have just always opted to stay in Galax, VA or Hillsville, VA. This hotel isn't anything fancy but it is clean, has great Internet reception, the room had a couch, microwave and refrigerator in it as well. It was cold when I was there in October so I didn't get to sit outside and enjoy the mountian evening.
I liked the hotel and felt it was worth the money. I will stay here again.. Only suggestions would be to upgrade the bathroom lighting, needs to be brighter and to eventually get newer furniture.

Will plan to stay the next time on the parkway. Everything was clean and the room smelled fresh. Staff is very accommodating and friendly. A pleasant stay with a very reasonable rate.

We toured the Blue Ridge Parkway and pulled into Sparta in a very thick fog. We found this lovely inn and decided to stay the night. The front desk staff ROCKED!! The room was clean and comfortable. It has a guest laundry so I could freshen up our clothing from our trip. Teresa recommended breakfast at a little dinner right in the parking lot of the inn. It was the world's best breakfast and cost less than $12 to eat for the 2 of us. If you stay anywhere else on the parkway you will be sorry....this is the best and friendliest little inn on the planet!!!

Sparta is a pretty cool town. Sort a of a real world Mayberry. If you go there just to relax and get away, stay at the Alleghany Inn. It is mom and pop with really nice owners. I always look for local hotels and this inn is a classic example. Clean, comfortable, and nice.
