My wife and I decided to have a weekend away as the weather was looking good. This was the Thursday prior and I went looking on the net for places.. We live in Perth and didnt want to go too far so Toodyay sounded just fine at about an hours drive from home. Pecan Hill web-site looked great http://www.pecanhill.com.au/ , and so I contacted Craig (one of the owners) who said that he had availability and gave me a good price. So off we went, visited a couple of wineries on the way up and arrived mid afternoon to a warm welcome from Craig and Suzanne.
All rooms have access off a verandah and all have a rear door opening out onto an outside sitting area with views over the valley. Our room was very nice, modern and spotless. The shower was large and, joy oh joy, a seperate toilet off the bathroom. It gets cold at night here and there is both a reverse-cycle air-conditioner and oil heater. Continental breakfast was included with a cooked option at small extra cost. The Continental had lots of selection from fruits, cereals, spreads, coffee, tea and wonderful "Pecan bread". Suzanne cooked one of us a delightful serve of bacon, eggs and sausages.
Sheep and Alpacas amuse you as they run around the paddock. There is a swimming pool for summer times. Everyone just has to go outside in the evening and gaze up at the stars, incredible, just a blanket of stars that cannot be seen when in the city. A lounge is also available to guests with many books, DVD's.
There is a cafe on the property that is open from 10am with a good selection of food and tasting of wines and liquers made from Pecans and grapes grown there.
We loved our stay at Pecan Hill and thank Suzanne and Craig for their hospitality.
