“Perfect and most importantly - doggy friendly!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 February 2012

This was my second stay at the Old Telegraph Station and I must say it was just as good, if not better, than the first time.
We needed to check in early as we had to drop the doggies off before venturing over to our lunch booking. Doug was more than accommodating. Although he was still there finishing off the cleaning, he took on the dual role of doggie minder after we dropped the doggies and headed to lunch.
When we returned the place was spotless and we felt right at home.
The only logical thing to do was to grab the pups and go for a wander down to Murray Street Vineyards to enjoy a glass of the 'Sophia' on the deck. So fortunate to have such a gorgeous cellar door only a few minutes walk away.
We utilised the fully equipped kitchen for our dinner, although the tempation was there to fire up the barbie. It was lovely to sit outside and enjoy our meal in the peace and quiet of the Barossa.
Also within walking distance are the Greenock Twilight Markets which happen about once a month I think, as well as the Greenock Tavern and the Barossa Brewing Company.
THe accommodaiton has everything you need for a more than comfortable stay......lovely linen, bathrobes, spa, good shower, well equipped kitchen and ample breakfast provisions, tv, dvd player, outdoor entertainment area etc etc etc. Thoroughly recommmended.

“LITTLE SLICE OF HEAVEN”

What a lovely surprise this place was. We went to the Barossa Valley and wanted something more intitmate than a hotel chain. I decided on this place as it was in a lovely little town and it was very old as it used to be an old post office in the 1800's. We were not dissapointed. Once you book you have the whole place to yourself. The owners do not live on site but are there if you need them. The whole place was just so inspiring we lit a log fire and watched the dvds they left for you. You have a complimentary lovely bottle of red, chocolates, robes and big fluffy towels. You have a big spa and they leave you orange juice, bacon, eggs etc so you can cook yourself breakfast.
It was cosy and wonderful and we did not want to leave. This is also very reasonably priced. Do yourself a favour and stay at this very lovely quaint little place. We were not the only ones who loved it their is a signatory book you can sign and everybody thought the same!

“Amazing Hideaway In Barossa Valley”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 October 2011

It is great to find a "pet friendly" B&B that really is pet friendly. My wife and I recently stayed here with our travelling companion (Sheltie Puppy) and had a great time, with a fully fenced rear yard and with our dog being allowed inside with the only proviso being not allowed on the furniture. The property is warm and cosy with a beautiful wood burning heater (wood provided), large screen tv and dvd player and a very large bathroom with a spa bath. The breakfast provisions were more than adequate and there was even a complimentary bottle of wine and carafe of port to enjoy. Having travelled extensively I would say this is one of the better B & B's we have stayed at, and will return for sure,

“Really great place requiring just some minor attention to detail”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 August 2011

Firstly, the booking process was very smooth, with excellent directions, information, tips and maps provided.
The location is really great, just outside the touristy part of the Barossa, but still accessible. Greenock has that small town country feel but is only five minutes drive to restaurants and a big shopping centre.
Along with that, on the weekend the Greenock pub is a great place for dinner. It's a very short walk from the Old Telegraph Station, so no worries with having a drink or two with dinner! The meals at the pub are good value and tasty.
Back to the cottage - everything is laid on - firewood, large spa, coffee machine, tv, dvd, - it's all there and it's very comfortable.
The yard is great to sit in and enjoy the complimentary wine - not sure though why they haven't grown higher bushes along the back fence to provide some privacy - maybe that's in the pipeline? The lack of screening combined with lack of curtains in the rear entance means you're visible from outside when you go to the bathroom - not a big issue, just wear the comlimentary gowns.
Cleanliness? The cottage was very well presented. Unfortunately the milk frother on the coffee machine hadn't been cleaned so I gave that a good cup of hot water treatment, as the dried milk can be unhygenic.
The BBQ had a sign saying "please clean after use", which is fair enough, but when we got there it was grotty. It took me half an hour before we left to clean the side shelves which had old grease on them, the door handles, the front panel, and I had a rough go at the rack but that had so much built up grease on it that I was too annoyed to continue so I gave up.
Things like bbqs and coffee machines are guaranteed to be neglected by guests, so it really is something the owners should make a beeline for when they come in to clean.
Overall I give the location a 10 out of 10, the actual cottage a 10 out of 10, I love how they provide wine at wholesale prices (plus a freeby). The breakfast provisions were generous, there was free port, some free chockies. I would definitely recommend people should stay here.

Thanks for your review we do appreciate customer feed back which assists us to help improve our cottage, appreciate your comments!!!.
Yes we are in process of installing screening trees at back fence to improve privacy, hasn't been an issue up to now as rear fence is some 25m away from property, also curtains have already been ordered for rear sun room windows will be installed next 2 weeks. We do check / clean coffee machine / BBQ after each stay however looks like I missed these for your stay my apologies. Our BBQ is near new only 6 mths old and in really good condition, we have since given it a good work over!!.
Again really appreciate your feed back as it helps us pick up any items to improve our service, thanks Doug & Angela...

“Worth every cent.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 July 2011

This is a great place to stay, there were three of us and there was plenty of room with one queen and one double bed. The provisions for breakfast were very generous and everything we needed was there, even a cappuchino machine. We stayed on other lodgings that were more expensive and didn't provide as much. Beds were very comfortable, hooray! Jenny, Sydney.
