Just spent 3 days in 1770 and went on a day trip aboard the LARC vehicle which stands for Light Amphibious resupply Cargo, to Bustard Heads Lighthouse. At first we weren't quite sure what to expect from this pink monstrousity but boy were we surprised. This vehicle is amazing, built by the yanks in 1966 to act as a resupply vessel in vietnam. It took us to places where no other vehicle could possibly go and our guide and driver Neil, who has lived there since he was a boy, was very informative. He knew his history from Capt Cook through to present day and he also was part of the restoration of the lighthouse on Bustard Heads and so he was speaking from experience. After visiting the lighthouse we had a lovely picnic lunch and to top the day off, we did a little sandboarding down the local sand dunes. Absolutley Awesome day, one not to be missed.
