“a very dirty castle”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

The location is stunning. The customer service was ok. Our 3 bedroom beach house looked fabulous AFTER we CLEANED it. We scrubbed everything incl: the bbq, all the crockery, pots and cutlery, the filthy steps leading up to the apartment andwe sterilised the dishwasher which had an old onion ring in the bottom of it. The washing machine lint filters were full. The family had booked 3 ground floor apartments to cater for children and a disabled grandad but one of the rooms had been given away despite the booking being confirmed. To the office's credit an extra ground floor apartment was found for grandad. We ended up with 4 apartments and all 4 were very dirty.
Should we ever stay there again we wont be tolerating the same poor standard of cleaning.

Room Tip: the rooms on the beach side have less foot traffic passing by

“Awesome location – WORST customer service received in my life!!!”

Will definitely be going back to Agnes Water and 1770 as it is the perfect holiday destination with beautiful beaches, awesome weather, great activities and laid back relaxed atmosphere. However will DEFINATLEY NOT be staying at Sandcastles 1770 ever again, which is a shame as I loved the resort/beach house location and facilities (apart from the fan not working in the room). My issue is with the extremely poor customer service provided by the reception staff. We checked in on the 28th of December and noticed the fan in the room was not working, which is quite a big deal given it’s summer and there is no air conditioning. I rang reception and advised them the fan was not working. They advised they would get someone to look at it and ring me back. I waited for a phone call that never came. The next day I went to reception to follow up (seeing as they didn’t as promised) on the broken fan and was advised that maintenance looked at it and it needs an electrician and they are trying to locate an available one but due to it being christmas was unlikely that they could find one. I told them that it’s not acceptable to have a fan not working in the room when it’s summer, to which the girl replied “there’s a chance of storms coming later which should cool things down”, which dumfounded me, she was treating it as a joke. Again I had to follow up (as they don’t) later that day and was advised the fan could not be fixed until the 1st of Jan which would be after we had checked out. I was then offered a partial refund on the room cost by the manager which I was happy with, however I am still waiting for the money to be refunded to my credit card. I was advised by reception on the 29th that they would process it that day for me. I checked my credit card account on the 3rd of January and discovered the refund had not been processed. I rang reception and they said they would look into it and ring me back. Well it’s now the 5th of January and I have had no phone call back at all which is not surprising given the fact that they have never followed up previously. I left a message earlier today for the manager to call me back to see if I’ll actually ever get the refund promised to me. Still waiting….

Words cannot describe how EXTREMELY POOR the customer service is that I have received from Sandcastles 1770!!!!

Brett W,

Firstly, thank you for your comments. We can only improve through both positive and negative feedback.

We at Sandcastles 1770, pride ourselves on going the extra mile when it comes to customer service! I would like to extend my apologies for the service, you felt, was unacceptable and would also like to make you aware that this sort of situation is rare. Being our busiest time of year, the whole team respond to our guests with diligence and professionalism as soon as possible.

Again, we are very sorry for the inconvenience of one of the five fans in your apartment malfunctioning and for the delay in payment compensation (processed several days ago).

I hope that in the future you will understand that it was a one off scenario and give Sandcastles 1770 the chance to make your next trip to Agnes Water and 1770 more positive.

Thank you

Antony

“I can't believe we didn't come here sooner...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 December 2011

After a long hot trip in the hot summer heat it was all about first impressions when we arrived @ sandcastles 1770. To say we were shocked is an understatement. We were presented with a number of accommodation options, from air conditioned motel rooms to luxury beach-homes. The staff are amazing and I have never felt so welcome. It wasn't like staying at a ' run of the mill' resort, it was more like staying with long lost friends. The beach was only seconds from our front door step, and if that's too far, the pool was just meters away. With a choice of restaurants to satisfy our hunger, there was simply no need to leave the resort for an creature comforts. Antony (the manager) couldn't do enough to make our stay enjoyable, orgnanising day trips to see the local sites and suggesting local contacts who looked after us. We booked our next stay as we checked out and now can't wait to get back to Sandcastles. Thanks to everybody for such a great experience and we are looking forward to coming back at Xmas next year.

“A perfect paradise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 October 2011

Our 2 families showed up here very late in the evening after a long drive up the coast from Brisbane. Antony and his partner helped us with all our children, keeping them entertained while we unloaded our cases and then brought us some champagne and sat and chatted with us for awhile giving us all kinds of recommendations on what to do. The beach house was out of a movie or some designer magazine......well laid out and extremely tranquil. It was literally a minutes walk to the beach. Kahuna's served some amazing food and all of the staff were amazing. We can't wait to go back and stay longer when we visit again in 2 years.

Room Tip: All rooms are good but we were located near the walkway which made it very close to the beach area...

“Sensational sunsets”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 October 2011

From your first turn of the key you will experience a beautiful island feel accomodation. The self contained ( Beach House ) is perfect for families or even a few couples holidaying together. All you need to pack is your towel and Togs as a quick 2 minute walk and you are walking on the beautiful white sandy beaches of 1770 .Even closer the beauiful pools or heated spa at your resort. 1770 offers several different day tours you can do throughout the day.1770 is the entrance to the great barrier reef which can include diving fishing or snorkelling or an island walk. Turtles were sighted whilst diving on Lady Musgrave Island. All of this is on the doorstep of sandcastles accomodation. The onsite restaurants and cafe offer great food at reasonable prices. The Manager and his staff at Sandcastles aim to make your stay as memorable as possible and with the abundant knowledge of the area and activities makes the stay always seem to short. Can't wait to get back to 1770 .
