We checked in Sunday afternoon, Sept 18. Upon checking in and getting up to our first room, we discovered a small ant infestation, so I returned back to the front desk to report the problem while my husband waited upstairs, I tried to call, but the room phone was not operable. The desk clerk said she would get someone to come up and spray, and I let her know that would not work for us...having a room sprayed and an asthmatic husband would be disastrous, and I did not care to smell it either. She said no problem and proceeded to find us a new room, just 2 doors down. We got into that room and settled in, noticing housekeeping had been a little slack on some things. The shampoos the hotel provides....well, ours had been half used and left on the little shelf for us. NO THANKS! Also, I noticed the next morning that the coffee provided had been opened and left as well. Coffee maker was not cleaned either. My husband and I always checked the sheets, Bible, and a few other places we have learned bed bugs hide, and all was well there. About 10:30pm I was getting a little upset that I had not received a call I had been waiting on, only to find out the phone in this room did not work. When I called downstairs (I was in my PJs) from my cell, she informed me that bc of the hurricane, some phones just don't work. That's understandable, but should have been disclosed to me before I checked in. I had to use my cell phone to make right many calls to the area. Other than that....The shower is dark, very dark, bed was comfy, third floor was quiet. Rooms in general were a bit dated, but did not affect my stay. Breakfast was pretty good. You have a lot of variety, healthy and not so healthy. I saw the pool, but it was too cool to use it. Looked nice. Staff was very nice, from the maintenance guy, to the front desk, to housekeeping. We may possibly stay here again, but would definitely check problem areas before settling in. Not quite what I normally get from a Holiday Inn.

My name is Brittney Sherman and I am the AGM at the Holiday Inn Express Morehead City. I wanted to thank you for taking the time to submit a review on Trip Advisor. I want to apologize for the unsatisfying nature of your stay. Our hotel is somewhat dated and we are in the process of adding upgrades a few items at a time. The most recent changes as you may have noticed have been the carpets, lobby/breakfast area, and bed linens. We are looking forward to adding additional upgrades in the coming months. In regards to the ants, unfortunately, they look for dry places due to the hgh humidity and rain. We have weekly inspections from an exterminator to monitor their acitivity. If you are ever traveling into the Morehead City area again, please contact me directly to make your reservation. Thank you again for your review of the Holiday Inn Express.
