“The Perfect Cottage Experience”

The Black Bear Cottage is the perfect, cozy, romantic escape from reality. Our first trip to the cottage was to get married. We wanted to elope and didn't want any of the hassles of planning a wedding. We couldn't have picked a better place. Sandee and Larry took care of everything which allowed us the opportunity to relax and enjoy ourselves. I will never forget walking through the door to the cabin........it instantly felt like home but without any of the stress. We loved the secluded location surrounded by the woods and a mountain stream running right next to the cottage. You will feel like you are hundreds of miles away from civilization but you are really only 5 minutes from anything you might need. I guarantee that you are merely a phone call away from Sandee and her team of fairies who will take care of any problems you might have. Personally, I couldn't imagine having any problems.....although you may just "have to have that recipe that you just ate for breakfast"! Did I mention breakfast was AMAZING!! I highly recommend the breakfast that just magically appears(those darn fairies again). Everything about the Black Bear Cottage has been perfect for us, the location, the hosts, secluded, romantic, breakfast, cozy and clean, etc. I could go on and on. We have visited twice and plan to go back over and over again!

“If you are planning on being anywhere near Maggie Valley, you wont be disappointed at the Black Bear Cottage in the Wood”

We married at TimberWolf Creek last year and stayed at the Black Bear Cottage. Planning this trip from out of state was nerve racking but I am so pleased at how well everything turned out. Sandee and her family/staff were so accomodating. The cottage was straight out of a fairy tale. Tranquility at its finest. The food served was delicious, the bed was comfortable, and oh, the tub! Especially pleased with the fact that they allowed our dogs to be there with us. We will be returning every chance we get!

“A Wonderful Treat”

The smell of the pines, the sounds of the stream, looking up to blue skies and puffy white clouds at the end of tall trees....these are the memories of the outside of the cottage. Awaiting for you inside the cottage is warmth, laughter and great food. A treat for your body and soul. You owe it to yourself to visit this wonderful spot.

“Heavenly”

The Black Bear Cottage is one of the most romantic spots in North Carolina. The soothing sounds of the creek just behind your bedroom door, the cool breeze coming through the windows, the peace and quiet is Heavenly. We enjoyed ourselves immensely and we will be returning every chance we get. The innkeepers make you feel comfortable and welcome, but do not invade into your privacy. The food was a welcome treat every morning no matter what time we selected breakfast. If you need to get away from it all this is the answer.

“Amazing escape to the mountains!”

What a fabulous way to spend a vacation! The Black Bear Cottage is situated almost on top of the stream and is secluded enough to make you feel like that stream is your very own. The friendliness of the hosts, the superb breakfasts, and all the little extra touches make this place more than just a place to spend the night. The beds and pillows are dreamy, and the whole place is very comfortable. We loved the jacuzzi tub and having our morning coffee listening to the sounds of the stream. The most important thing for me is cleanliness, and this place is definitely clean. I would definitely, without hesitation, recommend this place.
