It's a pleasure to be writing a positive review. Too frequently these days there is much to be critical of. Make no mistake, this is a B & B, and my excellent rating is based on the type of establishment. First of all, there are no nice hotels in Clinton, just an older second rate Comfort Inn with horrible beds, and a marginally nicer sister hotel, the Inn at Clinton (plus 2 others which are worse). If that suites your needs, fine. Personally, I dreded having to return to Clinton on family business, simply because there is a lack of nice accomodations. Fortunately I decided to check B&B's or just stay in Fayetteville and commute. Fayetteville is also a town of B grade hotels that get a lot of abuse (except they do have a new Courtyard and a Hilton Garden Inn, but they are way over-priced). Opting to stay in Clinton we found the Sheild House Inn. Built in 1916, it is a very nice home of this era, filled with interesting antiques. It is very near the center of town, two short blocks off of the main street. It has a safe feeling and we were made to feel very welcome. LeAnn is very nice, accomodating, and down to earth. She certainly exceeded both expectations and duty in accomodating our needs. Our room was comfortable, spacious, and had two beds, a king and a double (full)....and a very comfortable easy chair. There was an upstairs parlor right outside of our room which we felt welcome to use, a porch above the portico was off of this parlor, and we even had a micro-fridge in our room. Breakfast was an excellent full-breakfast in a lovely setting. What more could you ask for? For me and my family, finding this inn turned a dreded stay into a wonderful experience.
