My experience at the Renaissance was Terrible!!!!!!! I had a reservation set for a Saturday thur Monday. When I drove from South Carolina to finally het settled in my room I was told at check oh did any one contact you about our power outage? I said no! He continued to say we will have a power outage for the next two days. I came here for a surprise birthday weekend for my boyfriend and this was the start of a terrible stay! He told me I will give you free breakfast because of the outage but I already had breakfast figured into my bill, so he said they would transfer me over to the Mariott their sister hotel. I was so pissed but didnt have any other choice. We got to the Marriott to check in they told me my breakfast will not be in with the price any more because I receive military discount. So we went to the room walked in and the first thing that hit me was a molded scent. The room was nothing like I paid for at the Renaissance. It was soo much smaller... Sheets were molded and the cable kept losing signal during the playoffs... I will be writing a review for the Mariott also! When I did check out I was charged an extra $47.00 which they couldnt explain why it was charged to my account and then I check my bank statement and Rennaissance charged me $137.00 when I didnt even stay there. After going through about 3 people I finally got the manager and he didnt make it any better!! he said he would check on it to see if I could get my money back because I was charged for a no show fee. Which i was like how could you charge me that when you sent me to another hotel.. I then asked will I at least be comp a one night stay since I had to go through all of this mess that ruined my weekend he said no I dont see why I should!!! I will never stay at a Rennaisance or Marriott hotel again.. For almost $300 for 2 nights and i had to smell mold and ask for a microwave and refrigarator to be bought to the room and the cable kept losing the signal.. Never again and I would advise anyone else from staying at these hotels if you want to enjoy your hotel stay. Find somewhere esle..Horrible Customer Service!!!!!!!

After many years, this hotel continues to keep my preference in Charlotte.
Very good location with many choices in the area for shopping and restaurants.
Staff always attentive supports this consistent operation. Fitness center is just acceptable.
A very good value for the price.

We stayed here over New Year's Eve and it was a pleasant place to stay. The staff is courtesous, the whole hotel is in top repair and the room was fairly large and comfortable. The restaurant food was very good, the gym is packed full of new equipment and the pool was clean and comfortable with plenty of clean towels around.

Stayed here when shopping for Christmas at South Park Mall. Great location for out-of-town shoppers. Room was comfortable, but maintenance needs some tweaking. The television didn't work, and the engineer who reattached the cable to the back of the set said that "housekeepers are always knocking these out". And the toilet tank seal wasn't tight, so all night the toilet ran about every five minutes. Although I thought I might get back to sleep after 2am, that never happened.
Room service was fine; nice to sit with feet up after a long day of shopping. I will probably try staying here again.
