When we checked in we were pleasantly surprised at how pretty the building was. We should have known something wasn't up to par when we were told the lobby was locked at 9 p.m. The room was clean but a little shabby. But, we got our keys and then went on to our event not to return until 9 p.m. When we were taking our luggage to the room we enountered two very drunk men wandering around, a pit bull (unleashed) running down the hall and other people of questionable intent roaming around. As we were returning to our vehicle a Charlotte police oficer approached us to warn us that this was a very unsafe place to stay and if we couldn't move to stay in our room, don't answer the door and move our vehicle to the front. He would check on us until 4 a.m. (his end of shift). He said it was a notorious place for prostitutes, drug dealers and other unsavory people. We moved our vehicle to the front where my husband observed a prostitute and her "friend" walking down the hall. My husband and I decided to take the officer's adivce and find another hotel. So, in all, we were in this room 53 minutes and cancelled the 3 nights of the stay. We couldn't have slept after observing the people and hearing the loud screams and hollering coming from other rooms. The night manager did tell us it was a little safer than it used to be and the armed guard came on duty at 11 p.m. Enough said -- find another place.
