“Surprisingly nice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 October 2011

I stayed last night at the Knights Inn at I-85 exit 33 in North Carolina. I arrived late and the staff seeing that I was a woman alone placed me in a room very near the office which made me feel safe and secure. The bed was wonderful and the pillow also. I am accustomed to finding one of them too lumpy, but this one was great. I slept sound and even though there is air traffic nearby, I did not hear a thing. The room was exceptional with everything I needed. I looked as though they have recently remodeled. Very nice for the price.

“Do Not Stay Here”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 October 2007

Please take note of the prior reviews on this hotel and stay well clear. We (8 girls) booked this hotel through an online travel agent for $25 for 2 nights which should have given us a clue of what we were expecting.

Firstly the doors are all dented and chipped where they have been forced open. The rooms are dirty (to the point of not wanting to put anything down anywhere) and the general clientele hanging around the car lot and balcony was a bit unnerving, especially after dark.

We stayed one night and then on the advice of the POLICE moved all of our stuff out quickly and went to stay in the Holiday Inn by Carowinds Theme Park (much nicer). The police could not believe that a group of girls were staying here and told us that is a a well known crack-house and there is prostitution going on and that if we didn't leave ASAP our rooms/cars would probably be broken into. They said that it was so bad that if it had been after dark they would have accompanied us back there to collect our stuff to make sure we were safe.

We made a complaint to the travel agency but they say there is no problem with the motel but one of the girls that booked it online is currently in the process of getting our money back through VISA.

Please take my advice and don't stay here - pay more and go to the Holiday Inn next to Carowinds.

“Crap”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 June 2005

My husband & I stayed here for race weekend. We can handle a crap motel, but this was downright dangerous. We were solicited for sex and drugs, strange men knocked on our door at 2am and there was obvious prostitution going on in nearby rooms. Not only should they close this place down, but the Charlotte police should be called!

“They need to tear this place down!”

I cannot say enough how bad the condition of this inn is! They need to just tear it down and start over. When we first pulled up ( I was traveling with 2 other people) it reminded me so much of the BATES HOTEL. You know the one from Psycho? First all, when we checked in (the inside doesnt look that bad-just old), apparently the place is ran by foreigners (Indians I think) that cannot even speak english all that well. It didnt help at all the kinds of people that checked in either. At least for the 3 days I was there, I really wasnt hanging around the room like that or else I would have gotten a refund and went somewhere else! I know where NOT to stay in Charlotte.

“You couldn't PAY ME to stay here”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 October 2003

After many hours of searching for a hotel to attend the recent NASCAR race in Charlotte, I found this Knights Inn and from the pictures, it looked to be an acceptable place to stay. I'm not interested in staying at the Ritz, all I want is clean. My mother booked the rooms and thankfully arrived early enough to check out the hotel. What they saw and later showed me was absolutely horrendous! First of all, this is not a desirable location at all. When they pulled into the parking lot, they saw cars up on jacks, a hole in the wall of one of the rooms where an a/c was supposed to be, however, the bed was actually pushed up against the hole so you could see the bed spread. The doors to the rooms looked like nothing more than sheets of plywood that had been painted to match the horrid color of the outside of the hotel buildings. I saw what looked to be a microwave on a shelf under a leanto outside. I could go on and on, but I am sure that my mother will also be posting on this matter as I've given her this website to do so.
PLEASE DO YOURSELF A FAVOR - stay elsewhere! I should have known that if we could get a room during race weekend for $50 to $60 a night, the place was probably a dump. Believe me, a dump would have been nicer to stay in! Oh and by the way, we never did even check in. The nice folks at the Sleep In in Matthews went out of their way to be more than accommodating to us. I'm sure there will be more to come on this hotel...
