“My son and I enjoyed the stay at Doubletree in Charlotte. It was right next to the college we were visiting.”

We were greeted promptly and given a delicious warm cookie. Rooms were clean and had all you needed. I do think the vending machines and room service were a little pricey. Room service was delicious but not on time. Hotel is conveniently located. Great place to stay if visiting nearby colleges or attending a game at Bank of America Stadium. I didn't feel great about the parking though.

“SERVICE NOT IMPRESSIVE”

We were in town Jan 13-15th for a National Cheerleading competition. We are Hilton Honors members, so, we always prefer to stay with Hilton properties. The hotel is very nice and looks newly renovated. We found the staff to be distant and not very knowledgeable. We were under the impression; we will receive free wireless in the room or in the lobby. To our dismay, there was a fee of 9.95 per day. We called the Hilton Honors number and inquired about the service and was informed, The Doubletree no longer offer free WI-FI services to Silver members. Although, we stayed with Hilton family for 28 nights in 2011, we only had ten stays and did not qualify for the free wireless. The representative, I spoke with, said, “someone from the hotel would contact me before, we checked out”. We never heard from the hotel staff or management.
The staff was not knowledgeable of the area. Any questions we asked, “the staff handed a piece of Xerox paper with information about the area”. Although, I am for technology, but to Google information and hand us a piece of paper about the area shows lack of service to your customer. Anytime we travel, we research the area, so, upon arrival to the hotel, the staff person or concierge can answer any questions we have about the area.
Although, the hotel was nice and we are Honors Members, we will start looking for hotels that focus on service and not with a brand attached.

Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel and provide your comments. I understand how frustrating it is for travelers when dealing with inconsistent internet pricing standards across hotel brands. The Hilton/Doubletree standard in providing complimentary internet is for Diamond and Gold Hhonors members, only. However, we do provide unlimited complimentary internet access in our 24 hour business center. I apologize for not contacting you prior to your departure. I was under the impression that our guest satisfaction team had resolved the issue to your satisfaction. Hopefully you received the follow-up email that we sent to you after we were notified of your concerns. Lastly, I have reviewed your comments regarding the information provided by our guest service team. In the future, we will ensure that the information provided to our guests satisfies their questions or concerns. Once again, I appreciate your comments and welcome you to call on me when I may be of personal assistance now or in the future.

“Wonderful Hotel!!”

We checked in for an overnight retreat. The room which my husband and I had was on the 8th floor overlooking the center court, with the Christmas Tree and decorations. The room, tv, amenities and staff were all right on par with what I expected. Parking was convenient and the hotel location was really perfect. Staff was really nice too!

“Wildcat Weekend Accommodations”

My mother, sister and I checked in for Johnson & Wales Wildcat Weekend, and couldn't have asked for a more convenient location for the weekend's festivities.

Parking - There is a parking garage situated right next to the property, which is fairly easy to navigate in and out of. There was no charge associated with it and we used our key to get in. It seemed pretty secure and finding available spaces on the main entrance level was also a piece of cake.

Staff - All staff members that we encountered were friendly, but some could use a refresher course in directing guests around campus. Maybe even having maps on hand would help them to assist guests with specific buildings. When I worked front desk in Williamsburg and Virginia Beach, VA, having maps was essential in going the extra mile in providing directions for guests.

Room - Everything was modern, fresh and clean. The bedding was comfortable and the colors were inviting, yet soothing. Kudos to this property for updating decor without falling prey to the new trend of bold brash colors like many hotels are doing. The color selections and decor were very tasteful.

Breakfast - Included in our package for Wildcat Weekend were breakfast vouchers, which was a nice perk. The breakfast was okay, with an assortment of traditional breakfast items like eggs, grits, bacon and sausage. There were cold items as well like yogurt, cereal, bagels and granola. One thing that would have been nice was having a non-pork breakfast meat option...like corned beef hash or turkey bacon, or something like that. Otherwise, the breakfast was quite adequate being that it was already included. Had we had to pay for it in addition to our room rate, I probably would have passed and picked up something from Bojangles.

Overall, we had an excellent stay and look forward to visiting frequently in the future, as my sister begins her program at JWU next fall.

“Nice staff, nice hotel”

I stayed at this hotel for two nights and found it extremely comfortable, with a super-friendly staff, and nice amenities. The room felt updated, clean, and kept up extremely nicely. Comfortable bed, convenient desk, nice bathroom. The staff was really friendly at all times, although at dead hours they weren't always right there at the desk but they showed up pretty quickly. I got room service one night (though I went down to the restaurant to order it because I had a voucher I wasn't sure how to use) - pulled pork sliders that were super tasty - and the wait staff was super sweet and prompt. There was a business center to print out my boarding pass, and a quite nice little gym with several ellipticals, treadmills, and a bike, all with personal TVs, as well as a full set of hand weights, mats, and swiss ball with a TV in that section as well. It was one of the better chain hotel gyms I've seen - everything was in good shape and good equipment.

I was staying on a package for an event so I got free internet and parking, but I think both usually have a charge. Be warned - I drove past this hotel like three times before finding it, because it's set back from the road, and to me, the entrance wasn't immediately visible because I was looking for the hotel itself, not a driveway. Once there, I never used my car again though - I like walking places, and it's less than a mile walk from the Fourth Ward/Uptown neighborhoods, where there are a lot of restaurants.
