Just walking into the lobby is unlike traditional hotels and you are welcomed by a friendly hotel employee. They step from behind their counter and speak with you using your name. The check-in is quick and easy and you are in your room before you know it.
The room is huge, spacious and well decorated. The bed is very comfortable and so are the pillow. A nice BIG flatscreen TV that actually works and has clear reception made my day. This is also the first hotel I encountered that actually had a small tube of toothpaste as one of the amenities. Does it matter? Heck yes, one less item I have to pack on my trip.
The rooms were quiet and despite being near the airport I did not hear any airplane noises. The bar in the lobby serves little snacks and drinks, including Starbucks coffee and specialty coffees. The breakfast was very good and there was an option to special order some items, something I did not avail of. The morning crew was just as friendly and helpful as the evening crew.
Check-in and check-out is also possible using kiosks if you don't want the personal touch or just like using technology instead. I like this option but used the friendly staff instead. I go on business to Charlotte quite frequently and used to stay at various hotels in the airport area and tried to use the Homewood Suites. Since trying the Hyatt Place I have only used them.
In case you get hungry there is a small plaza on the other side of the parking lot (same side of the street) where there are several eateries. I tried on Mexican restaurant, which was very good and reasonable, as well as a Soul Food eatery, which was a pleasant surprise.
All in all I highly recommend this hotel.
