“Great cabins”

This is our second visit to these cabins. We had a great time as before. There was a cold snap and we used the gas fireplace a lot. (Cabin features vary a lot, so check out their website). We stayed in Bear Cabin.
Enjoyed being about 5 minutes from downtown Brevard and about 30 minutes from Dupont State Forest and all the waterfalls there.

Room Tip: Check the website as all the cabins are different. Note that this is an "adults only" pla...

“Best location in Brevard for quiet weekend close to activities in town”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 August 2011

We spend a weekend in the Bear Cabin at Deerwoode and had a great time. It is private, comfortable and 2 miles from downtown Brevard. We fished and canoed on one of the ponds (8 acre pond) on the property which was really fun. Bill, the owner, was very helpful planning our reservation, telling us about the history of the property and advice on where to eat and hike. We will definitely stay again when we need to "recharge" our batteries.

“Wonderful Cabins”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 October 2010

This is the place to be if you want peace and quiet with your significant other. The "resort" is a handful of cabins and a four room lodge, with a lot of land. It is very casual and low key; we felt like we were the only ones here most of the time. The website will provide a pretty accurate picture of the cabins, the amenities, and the land in general. There is no describing, however, the strange feeling of turning down a side road at the back end of a subdivision, ten minutes out of downtown, and into a huge tract of virtually undeveloped land. Where else could you have your own private stretch of the French Broad River? This isn't for everyone...no maid service, two channels on the miniature TV, no spa products in the bathroom...but also no noisy neighbors, no hotel surrounded by asphalt, no extra fees for every little thing you want to do, and no feeling of being part of a big herd of tourists. We absolutely loved it.
I also have to add a special thank you to the Owners who really take sustainability seriously, in the way they have preserved the land, protected the watershed, and reused the old wood and fireplaces on the site to create a beautiful oasis.

“Where Eden Lay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 May 2009

The resort property is some of the most beautiful land you have seen. The cabins meld into the landscape. This is an enormous piece of property as it used to be a boys camp so the handful of cabins are really dwarfed by the surrounding lakes and forest. The resort itself is several backroads off the main road into the small town of Brevard, so expect zero traffic noise, just serenity. You also will get to see Helen's beautiful art paintings in her studio. There is also a four hold pasture golf course that you will likely be the only person playing since it is for the guests. This is just a special place that is hard to put into words.
