My girlfriend and I took the trip out to the Dune Deck based on recommendations from friends. We really weren't sure what to expect, as we had never stayed out in the Hamptons prior. As "walk-ins" we were greeted by an extremely friendly and knowledgeable front desk attendant who showed us a variety of rooms. Some were a bit more basic (i.e. their rooms inside the main building without any views) while some had a bit more to offer. Despite differences of views and prices, all rooms were very clean and well-kept.
We decided on what they call a "Deck Premium"; a room out on the deck where we could sit and enjoy the pool and the ocean view but still had plenty of privacy. We absolutely loved it and are currently trying to get one more stay in before the season ends!
All in all, the stay was phenomenal; with a staff that would bend over backwards to accommodate every guests' needs (even though there seemed to be plenty of guests attending that were simply unhappy with everything, no matter what was done! How the staff and restaurant workers could handle this with a smile and still do their jobs is beyond me!), as well as very comfortable arrangements made our romantic get-away one we'll never forget, and hope to repeat soon!
This place was a dump, for 329.00 per night plus tax. It was worth about 39.00.
Check in was no earlier than 3pm and both the beach and pool closed at 5pm. This was in mid August when it stays light until 9:00 pm !!
The room was totally gross, paint peeling off the walls in bathroom honestly a gas station bathroom would be more inviting. no elevator had to walk up 2 flights of stairs
my daughter and i were completely flabergasted
TOTAL RIP OFF
We've been coming here for 20 years and enjoy coming back every year. You have to understand that this hotel is all about the location on the beach and enjoying sun surf and outdoors, NOT the rooms which are basic, clean, and just steps from pool or beach. Joanne and her staff are both welcoming and anxious to please- We will keep returning, we understand what we are getting. You will enjoy your stay too, the price is what it is for beachfront Long Island in the summer.
If you want a clean place on the ocean close to NYC this is it! Many improvements over last year make this even better than ever. Hope they don't make too many more improvements or it will always be sold out. Enjoy it before everyone else finds out!
