“History, Service and Quality”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

I recently stayed at the Thayer while visiting West Point with my incoming Cadet. I love historic hotels and this was a pleasant surprise. The situation on the river was excellent. The service in the bar, dining room and front desk was great. The food was outstanding and well-priced and the rooms were very comfortable. Having easy, free wireless internet was a bonus as well. But the best part is that once you pass the West Point gate and check in to the Thayer, the hotel is on the West Point grounds and allows you easier access to West Point activities without long lines. And if you have never seen the campus, a tour is a must. All in all, a great stay. By far the best in the area!

Room Tip: Try to get a room with a view of the Hudson

“Great stay at Thayer Hotel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

Spent one night here with my teenage son first weekend in February for a West Point visit. Hotel has impressive public spaces that are nicely maintained. Our double room was spacious and nicely appointed, with a big, spotless bath. Tile floor in the bath could probably stand replacing -- it was clean but dated. The rest of the bath was modern, as was the room with flat-screen TV and very comfortable beds. And for those who fixate on such things (I'm not one of them), the carpet was impeccable. Also, the fact that the hotel is on the grounds of -- and walking distance to -- West Point is a nice benefit. Didn't eat in the restaurant so can't comment on that. Didn't quite understand previous posters who said rooms were small and old, etc. My experience was very different. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone seeking a bit of elegance -- and military pomp -- with their views of the Hudson River.

“Wonderful Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

My wife and I recently stayed at the Thayer as we knew it would be close to shopping at Woodbury Commons and the accomodations would be much better then the other hotels near the outlets. This hotel is fantastic! Restaurant is amazing, food and service were both top notch. Our room had an amazing view of the Hudson, what a beautiful sight to wake up to. We took the hotel staff's suggestion of signing up for a tour of West Point, which is definitely a must do. There is free coffee and wifi and the hotel lounge stays open pretty late, which is nice after a long day. Will definitely return.

We stay at the Thayer quite often as we visit the Military Academy. The service has always been excellent and all the staff are very friendly. Also have gone to the buffets and they also are the best,Sunday brunch is one of the best we have ever attended. Also like that coffee is avaliable in the lobby for early risers.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the Hudson have excellant view.

“Less than an hour from northern New Jersey!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

Shame on us for not having visited West Point in over 40 years when we attended an Army/Navy game. When friends couldn't use their reservations we filled in and had a wonderful visit to this scenic and historic area. The Thayer Hotel is a grand and gracious hotel. Accommodations, while not extravagant, were clean and quite acceptable. The dinner was also good. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend.
