We stayed at Empire Spa Retreat in the Delux room for our honeymoon and it was absolutely fabulous! The room itself was gorgeous, clean and made up well. The service was outstanding and the gourmet breakfast was fantastic.

We also both had the yallingup spa package from the Empire Spa and it was beautiful.

We would thoroughly recommend to anyone who is after a getaway to the Margaret River region.

I can’t say enough excellent things about the Staff at Empire Spa Retreat and the venue itself. I booked a villa at the Retreat for the purpose of setting the scene for a romantic proposal to my girlfriend.

The Retreat is well off the main road which is important because there is no road noise to disturb the peace and quiet during a stay. The Villa was well appointed and the space inside was bright, cheerful and the outdoor shower was a hit. Along with the other communal facilities like the Jacuzzi, main dining area and kitchen were clean and tidy day & night during our 2 night stay. The muffins were a nice touch also.

Staff – In a word …. Great!!! … From the team cleaning the rooms, to the chief and those assisting , to the team looking after the tidiness of the grounds and of course the Spa team, where all just wonderful . However there is always one who stands out among all the wonderful staff and that person was Catlin. She helped put things together for us and my girlfriend was none the wiser right up until the proposal … Catlin – thank you, thank you!

In short the Empire has a lot to offer and is located well to other attractions and the beaches. Get out Petra Olive Oil Estate and their Friday Night Pizza deal by chief‘s Grieg and Juliet Olsen who were our chiefs for our special night. And finally a big thank you to Sabine and David our musicians.

My husband and I spent a wonderful relaxing week at Empire Retreat in Dunsborough, WA. The beautiful wooden homestead and its attached suites are situated amongst the Australian bush with an outdoors decking where one can watch the passing local wildlife. The complex also provides a fantastic spa centre where one can be pampered from facials to massages. The breakfast each day was all local fare, varied, interesting and deliciously prepared by Andrea who has lived and worked in the region for many years. The owners have made their own wine which was very enjoyable and it was a wonderful way to pass the evening sitting in the deck chairs in the sculptured garden. Local excursions can be made daily to Busselton, Margaret River, Yallinyup or the nearby crystal clean beaches, all within a short drive of each other. The local restaurants are casual and up market. But if you decide to stay in then one would not blame you, as the kitchen facilities are available to guests if they want to put their Jamie Oliver skills to the test. While the food is cooking on the BBQ there may also be time for a relax in the outdoor spar with a glass of bubbly! The outdoor shower which comes with the suites was a wonderful experience with solar heated water. The resort is tastefully decorated and the staff go out of their way to be friendly and helpful. It is a great place to relax, unwind and get in touch with yourself and nature. You shouldn’t miss it!!

Stayed with my wife over xmas. Was a nice stay.

The rooms tick all the right boxes (well, we were in the little chalet rooms which are like self contained houses).

Outdoor shower is always a fav of mine...check. Nice tub, jacuzzi style if you like the jets. Minibar fridge and kitchen sink and microwave with some cutlery and plates should you opt to be eating in (smart - you can then sit on your back patio and watch the sunset while drinking your tasty Margaret River wines). Fireplace - although it was warm when we were there but would be a nice touch in the winter months.

My wife used the spa twice and can vouch for it being a good experience - but book early or if you put it off your menu of selections will start to get limited.

Staff was nice and we scored a very nice late checkout (as we had a midnight flight out of Perth) - that enabled us to un around that last day and do more shopping. Much appreciated.

Free wireless internet in your room - thank you Empire for not nickel and diming us!

Nespresso coffee maker in room with a couple free capsules a day - nice touch (not a 'proper' espresso but it does the job in a pinch).

Breakfasts were ok - I gather they used to be a lot more extensive. The catch here, hope you like eggs as the cooked breakfast was 5 versions of egg recipes - 2 omelettes, 1 fried version, 1 feta cheese on toast version and one poached option. There is yogurt and meusli however.

Good location just outside Dunsborough for picking up supplies although you can hear a bit of the road noise as it is in the valley by the main road (Caves) - tip; spend as little time on Caves as you can and drive the back roads. No one down here drives the speed limit on that road and you can't pass.
