I stayed two nights midweek at the Walpole Lodge and loved the feel of the place. It was so relaxed and comfortable, it felt like being at home. It was quiet, with only a couple of other guests staying at the time, clean and cosy. The kitchen was well equipped and I loved the availability of a coffee machine and rain water to drink . A wood fire kept the place warm through the chilly Walpole nights and the TV lounge with Satellite TV was a great spot to curl up on a comfy couch. The owner/managers were friendly, helpful and very easy going. All-in-all, a great place to stay and within easy walking distance of the town's amenities and attractions. There's a choice of single, double, dorm and ensuite rooms.

We stayed in a double room with shared facilities. They have a tv area and a sitting area next to the fireplace. When we were staying wifi was free and fast. The kitchen is fine. Location of the hostel is good. The only downside is the showers and toilets, there aren't many, 2 or 3 for the whole hostel.

I stayed here during the quiet winter season (August), but was welcomed by the wonderful owner and got the luxury of a dormitory to myself. Excellent free wifi and tea/coffee. Comfy bed and nice fire, with a big tv and couches! Also super clean and well kept. Plus it's only a stones throw from the shops.

Definitely the best spot to stay in Walpole.

My wife and I stayed at the Walopole Lodge on a clear but chilly weekend. We stayed in a double on-suite room, which are located away from the hostel area. The room was spacious, the bed was comfortable and hot rainwater showers were amazing. The lodge is well located, with the estuary and town centre all in close walking distance. It has free wireless internet which came in handy.

The managers of the lodge (who are the new owners apparently) were very friendly and accommodating. They make sure the place is kept spotless and wood heater is always stoked. One of the backpackers staying at the lodge said that she couldn't get to the Treetop Walk due to their being no transport in Walpole so the managers were kind enough to drive her out there, which was very accomodating on their part.

We will definately be staying there next time we are down there.
