We stayed in Kalbarri during the middle of March 2010 and what more can I say that's not in the title?
Well to start with I will comment on our accomodation, we went for self catering at the Blue Ocean Villas and really glad we did, they were spotlessly clean, had all the utensils etc that we would need and all the home comforts you could ask for. Didn't have the greatest selection of tv channels but who cares, I mean who really goes there to watch tv? It was also pretty huge, especially when it was just two of us staying! The pool was also well kept although we didn't spend that much time there!
Next up activities: the first we went on was the quad biking at kalbarri safari tours and had a great time! We had a real good blast around the bush and would easily go back for a longer tour.
Secondly was a day with kalbarri adventure tours, where we went and saw the loop and z bend before embarking on a pretty tough trek down the gorges before going for a paddle in a canoe. Great experience but be warned it was really hot (for us Scots anyway) but the tour guide made it really good fun!
Last but not least was horse riding at the big river ranch, now I ain't no cowboy but the the instructors took it really easy to start off with and we were even up to a canter by the end. Great fun and would definately do it again!
The rest of the time we relaxed at the beautiful beach in Kalbarri, and ate at a few of the restaraunts including finlays fish bbq which I reckon is a must see but go with an open mind. The place that we ate most as we found it the best would have to be the grass tree, recommend it to everyone, and get there for sunset and it's pretty spectacular.
To sum it up we had a great time there and if we are ever in WA again there is every chance we would make the effort to go back, and although it's probably handier if you have a car, we managed fine without!
