“Best - and safest - operator in town!”

There are a number of operators that will take you to swim with whale sharks, but few actually put their tenders in the water whenever the swimmers are overboard.

Why would you do this? Because those whale sharks swim deceptively fast and before you know it you'll be stuffed and needing the "water taxi" to pick you up.

If the tender hadn't been in the water when I did my swims, I'd surely have been in a bit of strife. It should be a legal requirement in my opinion.

Richard offers value for money, his wife is an excellent cook (lunch is included), the boat is large and comfortable and the experience is one that should be on your Bucket List.

BTW: they use a spotter plane to ensure they have a high chance of locating whales.

“An unforgettable experience with a lovely company.”

Myself and a friend went on a whale shark dive with 3 Islands at the start of May 2011 and it was definitely the highlight of our trip to Auz. I had never been in the open ocean before and it was a lot more choppy than I thought it was going to be. I love sharks and was desperate to see a whale shark in the wild. I had no idea that when it came to it I would be so terrified to just jump off a boat into the sea and swim along with my face in the water, especially as it wasn't the tranquil waters I had imagined. The group just jump in and swam and I froze and couldn't do it. I was gutted as this was a massive ambition of mine. Thankfully, Emma and the other girl (I'm almost certain her name was Steph) were brilliant and each did a turn at swimming along with me holding my hand, giving me heaps of encouragement to actually put my face in the water and finally see the amazing creature (and it WAS amazing and the most beautiful animal I've ever seen!) I'd come from the other side of the world to see! I should mention that I am 29 and so felt ridiculous at first that I was resorting to having my hand held when there were kids swimming merrily along underwater, but the girls were so understanding and made me forget how ridiculous I felt. Soon enough I was swimming along by myself, in awe that I was so close to this beautiful shark. I will forever be grateful that they helped me overcome my fear and swim with the "big fish". Thank you 3 Islands and keep up the good work!!

“Professional outfit, fabulous staff providing a life time of memories in a very special environment.”

We booked this excursion for 3 teenage girls (16 yrs old) to step out of their comfort zone and experiencethe wonders of the whale sharks on Ningaloo reef off Exmouth, W.A. The original booking date was cancelled due to a strong wind warning, Three Islands Whale Shark Dive professionally rescheduled it for the next day. From the time we booked with Brittany and paid our deposit, we all had high hopes and weren't let down with the experience shared by our daughters on their adventure. Their photos with an underwater camera showed their encounters with more than just a whale shark, but whales, sharks, dolphins, turtles, mantra rays, sun fish and numerous other reef life. The hospitality on the boat was the best, with friendly knowledgeable staff and a great buffet spread for lunch, which the girls really enjoyed, not to mention the hot chocolates. All equipment was supplied including wet suits and quality snorkelling equipment. They were allowed all over the boat and loved the dolphins that joined them when they were sitting at the bow. The bonding that was created by this experience on Ningaloo reef by 'Three Islands whale shark Dive' for the girls can't be priced. The experience they shared was extremely good value for our money and the owner and staff ensured they weren't disappointed. It is Interesting to note that when I spoke to a local in town and mentioned the experience, they immediately asked which company and when I told them they weren't surprised that the girls had such a fabulous time.

The whale sharks were beautiful, we also saw turtles, humpbacks. Had plenty of time with them in the water, I felt safe and in good hands the whole time with the staff, they were enthusiastic and knew so much about the reef and wildlife, their passion was contagious. Ans to top it all off the lunch was absolutely amazing. Worth every penny!
