We have just come back from a 4 day long weekend at the New Inn on Tresco.
Our bedroom was excellent – a lovely clean and bright double with views overlooking the sea. The quay was only a few minutes walk away too, which made for just a short morning stroll to catch the daily boat trips to the other islands.
The pub itself has a nice seating area outside with sea glimpses, and we were extremely fortunate with the weather, as we had blue skies most of the time, which you don’t tend to expect in October!
All the staff were extremely helpful and friendly, and the atmosphere in the pub itself, even though it wasn’t very busy, was really warm and welcoming.
Food-wise, we weren’t over impressed. It was quite pricey on both the food and drink front, but we did expect that due to the Island’s unique position. However, it was the overall standard of the food that we were slightly disappointed with.
We booked on a Dinner, Bed & Breakfast basis, but if we came again, we would only book B&B as we thought (for us personally) it would be cheaper to pay for our evening meal day by day.
Breakfast however was really enjoyable. Lovely bread and their full English was excellent.
Tresco itself is beautiful, as are the other islands we visited: St Martin’s, Bryher and St Agnes, For a relaxed holiday – go out of season and keep your fingers crossed that you have weather like we did. See the photos!
