“"Just Pure Magic"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 November 2011

Spent six fantastic days here on a recent photographic shoot... call that work !!! The minute you walk in you are taken care of. You start with a beaming smile and end up not wanting to leave. Fantastic staff, warm, friendly, welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. The food is excellent, local produce, cooked with care, thought and you in mind. Joan (manager) is just magic, she would light up the Albert Hall, let alone the St.Mary's Hall Hotel. Breeze in and out, take a stroll along the harbour, sample the pure delights of Scilly, the magical light, the hustle and bustle of the quay, as boats ferry people to the off Islands and then marvel at how peaceful it all is..where did those hundreds of people go, they just blended into the beautiful landscape. Just pure magic.

Dear Bob,

I'm pleased you've found a link between the Albert Hall & St Mary's Hall. I think that St Mary's Hall is as grand a stage as the Albert Hall but with less singing, but just as much dancing

Best regards
Joan

“Fantastic place to stay; friendly, welcoming and with fine food.”

Our second stay at this hotel and we were not disappointed. Staff are warm and welcoming, and made every effort to ensure this stay was as enjoyable as the last visit - even upgraded us (free!) to a superior room. Rooms are well equipped, bright, cheerful and very comfortable with little extras such as a box of local fudge provided on arrival and sachets of ground coffee. The food is fantastic; good portions, beautifully presented e.g. breakfast served on a 'frying pan' shaped plate, portions of chips arriving in a mini 'chip basket' and all absolutely delicious. The monkfish with shellfish sauce is to die for and the shellfish ravioli a dream. All food is fresh and uses local produce as much as possible, including a very palatable Scilly Isles wine available to accompany dinner. The menu is not extensive, but provides ample choice to suit all palates (and I am sure would accommodate any specific requests/requirements) making sure quality is achieved at every meal. Even though the hotel was 'winding down' as it is the end of the season, there was no relaxation of the high standards that the hotel prides itself on. Many thanks to all the friendly and helpful staff who once again made our visit relaxed and enjoyable. We will be back!

We enjoyed a leisurely lunch here whilst waiting to catch the Scillonian back to the mainland. We had our dog with us but we were made to feel exceptionally welcome. Good food and service in a lovely old building which has been sympathetically updated.

Thank you for your review,

Fog is occassionally a problem here on Scilly and we know how difficult it can be if you are stuck.

Here at the hotel , we are looking at ways to make things more comfortable when there are delays and we are pleased we were able to accommodate you.

We did not take dogs when you were delayed but we were aware that we were the most logical accommodation provider for you, so we bent the rules.

Hope to see you soon

“Magical Hotel on Magical Islands”

When we arrived we were greeted with one of the best welcomes ever from any hotel we have stayed at. We were shown to our room and our bags carried for us. At the same time we were shown all the facilities of the hotel and took the opportunity to book a massage which relaxed us ready for our holiday. The Count Leon room was large with very comfortable king size bed, arm chairs and balcony overlooking the gardens. The food was exceptional. Far better than I have had at 4-5 star hotels in the past and top class London restuarants. Each morning we were given all the details of any trips available that day and the reception staff booked them for us. The Hotel is at the quiet part of St Marys but still only 2 minutes friom the beach and 5 minutes from the quay. All the staff were excellant and a special thanks to Roger and Joan for going that extra mile to make our stay the best ever.

“Thank you to all at St Marys Hall Hotel”

We too were stuck at Land's End in foggy weather waiting for the Skybus to fly, what should have taken 15minutes took nearly 2 days. After waiting for 24 hours we were given the option of the ferry which seemed a good idea at the time but it was a rough crossing and we all felt worse for wear afterwards, but at least we got there. The holiday started when we arrived at the hotel.
We had a fabulous time and thoroughly enjoyed our stay with you. All the staff were very courteous and professional and nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent, we ate too much but enjoyed every mouthful.
We will definitely return, there are special events to look out for and the Gourmet weekend sounds excellent.Thank you so much to all the staff.

Dear Susan,

We look forward to welcoming you back next year, our gourmet weekend went extremely well.

What impressed me the most about the weekend was the friendships that grew between guests, we have some guests coming back next year to meet up again!!!!

Best regards
