My husband and I have been coming to Afandou for 10 years it was a last minute bargain and we have been coming evry year since. We have stayed in 3 hotels but the last 7 have been at Golden Days. There have been improvements over the years but this year has been the best.
Yannis and Maria have improved the hotel and have more ideas for next year they greet
us like old friends, so do Carol and George! The food is home cooked by Yannis's mom
and is lovely we tried nearly evrything on the menu! We stay bed and breakfast and eat
lunch there every day no need to go out if you dont want to the prices are very good. We
like to go for a stroll on an evening and eat out after sunbathing all day in the lovely garden the people are very friendly and there are some good places to eat O'Minus tavern, Four Seasons, Danielles, Neon and others.
There is Karoke and Quiz night and Bingo which is great fun, but there is no pressure to join in if its not your thing. Carol has a world of knowledge and can provide you with all the info you need, Yannis and Maria and staff provide you with best food, clean sheets and towels all you need for a great stay, rooms basic but clean {it is Greece!} Now George what can I say he is a bundle of fun and energy and entertains you throughout your stay he even quotes shakespeare!
If you like the beach its a 20 minute stroll from the hotel turn right and keep going one straight road a bottle of water is a good idea as can be thirsty work in August heat! but there are benches dotted about so you can have a rest if you want.The beach is never packed so you can relax without the next person sitting on top of you typical in other resorts we have been to! There are loos and a bar serving food across the road from beach.,
So if you want a fab holiday with good food and clean rooms great weather this is the place to go you will be greeted like old friends thats why we come back year after year its a laid back friendly place home from home for us , with great staff! For us no need to self cater food good, and reasonably priced, and if you want a change to eat out in an evening its reasonable to do so.

Lovely quiet and relaxing place. Hotel simple but very clean, room cleaned every day. All staff very friendly. Food and drink priced well. Plenty sun beds around pool area and garden. Villiage a easy 10 minute walk away. Nice bars and restaurants, four seasons and sergios especially. Supermarket next door. Entertainment put on at hotel a couple nights a week. A few other guests said they'd been coming to this hotel between 5 and 10 years and we will defnitley be going back. Deserves more than two stars.

My Boyfriend and I have just returned from a 12 day stay at Golden Days. We had a fabulous time, all the staff worked tirelessly to ensure our stay was nothing short of perfect. The Hotel was clean and even though the rooms are basic the beds were comfortable and the rooms were cleaned almost every day of our stay.
Afandou is one of the friendliest places I have ever visited. The food was great and we will definitely be going back!

Stayed for a week in September to celebrate our wedding anniversary and had a brilliant time. All the staff, Yani, Maria, Carol and of course George work so hard and long hours but still are always cheerful and more than happy to do anything for you. Nothing was too much effort.
The rooms are typically Greek, basic but clean and we had fresh towels every day. But you dont stay in your room, you are always out and about!
The food was great, excellent value and always plenty of it. The English breakfast was a great start to the day. The hotel doesnt allow people to reserve sunbeds which meant that you could always get one but there was plenty to go around. The pool area was great and the garden was nice and peaceful.
Gin and Tonics are amazingly large and after 3 or 4 you will stop to feel the pain! The Karaoke night was a riot and well worth going, if only to hear George singing "the lion sleeps tonight".
We will be booking to go back again next year at the same time and hopefully to meet the same people who also were looking to go back (it was their anniversary on the same day) and the hotel got us a bottle of fizzy each which was a really nice touch (even if George couldnt open it!).

Mimis - Looks like a cafe but always has locals in it and the food is great.
The 4 Seasons - Always happy to see you, massive portions!
Sergios - Slightly more expensive than the others but great food
One in an alleyway whose name I cant remember but its in the tight section of the main strip by the computer game shop. Again great food.

There are plenty of bars at the main square to choose from and you always get snacky foods like peanuts or popcorn with your drinks.
Get the road train to the beach, 2.50e which you can flag down outside the hotel and get the bus into Rhodes town 2.40e from the square.
A great place and a great time.

Make sure you ask George about Pippa and Ill have 2 Gin and Tonics please!!
