“Quaint and quiet hotel back from the beach”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 March 2010

We arrived at the Guaiamu during Ressaca after carnaval in Salvador. It was a perfect little hotel for us at the 3rd beach. If you don't know much about Morro, the 3rd beach is a bit further down from "the action" but it's a great location to get away from the mayhem but still close enough for a short walk into it when you're ready. Perfect location to be honest. Hotel was quiet and set back in the woods from the beach. breakfast was basic. The owner (I've forgotten his name unfortunately) is Chilean and very cool to talk to as well as being helpful on tips for the rest of our trip around South America. Would definitely stay here again. It was a bit pricey for what we got but it was during Ressaca which is probably their super high season. assuming the rates were lower outside of this period, I would definitely stay here again.

“Paradise island.....”

Morro de sao paulo is a natural paradise!
The Vila guaiamu hotel is located in a natural park on the beach.
The rooms are old but the breakfast is very good!
The daily rate is a little expensive but the location is perfect to visit morro.

“bad value for money”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 August 2009

We were very disappointed with this hotel. In August, the low-season has put its stamp on this hotel, and there was only very few other guests. The tv did only had four "snowy" channels, Air-condition was noisy. The terrace was unfit to use due to the many mosquitos and we had to close alle windows and the door to the room due to the mosquitos. Still, I had 51 mosquito bites during my visit! The rooms was cold and uncharmy. The pricing was low-value for money. Breakfast was poor. However, the staff was friendly and helpful!

“Good, Not Great”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 April 2008

We stayed at the hotel the 22 to 25 MAR, and i must say that the location is fantastic, pure nature and wild reserve to the guaiamu , the blue crabs.
the hotel is compose for villas very apart each other and surround the vegetation and palm trees. Not a luxury hotel, and needed some renovation. The villas are nice but very basic.
I believe that twenty years ago this hotel was the top, but not now.
we had AC and FAN (VERY LOUDY), hot water, the cleaning was good, but the bed's close and furniture were very old.

The the staff, very nice
the food (break fast very good)
the restaurante had great pastas (the owners are italians)

the beach in front to the hotel isn't good, very rockcy, but the 2th beach and the 4th are close and betters.

The MORRO DE S.Paulo, is located na island of Tinharé and is a little piece of the shore, we made a tour by boat and there are so many beatifuls and wild beaches to explore. we visit also the Boipeda island where we ate some lobsters and bahia dishes like moquecas, bobos all fish and seafood especiality.

the MORRO is a party durind the day and night, lot's of animation e full of young people, ready to dance and enjoy life.
The MORRO is very safe . I'll return

“Awesome location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2008

We stayed 9 days there. The high point is the location, because it is a protected area for the "Guaiamú", a blue and orange crab that lives in the entire park where the hotel is placed.
It consist on 5 or 6 buildings, very apart from each other, with 4 rooms per building, surrounded by the wild nature of brazil, mostly different kinds of coconut & palm trees.
Another high point is the silence and peace within the vila, and the friendly ways of Rene, the administrator.
Breakfasts are buffet style (like most of brazil), a little repetitive but abundant (do not miss fruits like abacaxi and mamao).
The low points are the walking distance to the main village (about 15-20 minutes trough sand) and the owners, they are always kind of stalking, made me felt observed, and they disauthorize one another, causing me a bitter moment when I left about minibar charges, wich were freed by one owner when I did my check out and then charged rudely by the other when I was actually leaving the place...not so good as a last memory for my vacations.

  • Liked — Loaction is awesome
  • Disliked — The owners are rude and lurky
