We'd stayed at this hotel two years ago and were happy with the visit, but this time around we were less impressed.
First off, when we arrived we asked for a room with a microwave. The owner said that only across the street at their other hotel could we get a microwave. Then he said that the room had 2 double beds and we said we wanted a king. Well... then the king room with microwave magically WAS available. Why not just tell us the truth the first time?
Come to find out that the room had no coffee maker and there was no coffee available in the lobby. Have you ever in your life stayed somewhere that you can't get a cup of coffee in the morning? The owner offered to let us borrow a coffee pot - if we had our own coffee!? I don't generally travel with coffee and filters in my car, dude.
The room is very noisy (as others have mentioned) due to truck traffic. In addition to bringing your coffee filters and coffee and ear plugs, bring your own shower head! Our shower head had so little volume (it was a like a fine mist of cool water) that my DBF had to take a bath to rinse off! Washing my hair was a project. I don't expect much for $60 but getting clean is nice.
When I checked out the owner acted like he couldn't bother with me. Hello - this is the HOSPITALITY industry! Try showing some hospitality to your guests. Like offering me a cup of coffee...
Finding a place to stay in Watkins Glen is a pain - most places are way dated and/or over priced. Regardless, we won't be back.
