My wife and I enjoyed a 3-night stay in this lodge, which is such a well-oiled machine that it can almost be described as a tourist processor. Though it definitely lacks the intimacy and the wilderness feeling of a tented camp, this luxury-hotel-in-the-bush is exceptionally well located indeed. While the rooms are nothing to write home about, the food really is delicious – particularly the Indian dishes. When having breakfast or lunch al fresco, it’s a real delight to watch the birds that are all around – even trying to snatch some bits off your table. Except for the odd waiter who thinks only fancy dressed customers deserve to be treated with respect, the service is impeccable. But for such a hotel, it surprised us a bit the lodge didn’t have a license to change foreign currency (though it’s possible to pay your bills with a credit card). However, since we needed to change some Euros into Ugandan shillings before heading south to Ishasha and Bwindi, the manager-on-duty was so kind to help us and changed some Euros into the local currency out of his pocket. As far as we could understand it: while the hotel wasn’t licensed to change, breaking the law when they had done so, the manager did not since he was not an Ugandan national. Thank for this!
