“Good value for service and early morning visits to QENP.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2011

I debated whether to give an average or very good rating for Simba Safari Camp for several reasons. Initially, my reservation made two months in advance was lost and fortunately, I contacted the camp two weeks before departure and discovered this was the case. The camp offered two complimentary nights in the dorm as a way to make up for the error (I had the entire email exchange of my reservation request documented). The dorms were decent, but not appropriate for my parents in their sixties. My main concern was the ill-fitting mosquito nets that did not allow for comfortable sleeping since they did not properly cover the beds. The camp would do well to have nets custom made for the dorm beds, as they have for the beds in the rooms.

My husband and I camped in an overgrown patch of grass designated for camping, but not cared for. Many other campers set up their tents in the sloped grassy area just behind the restaurant which seemed fine enough, but we worried about the noise possibility and finding a flat space.

The food service and timeliness was excellent. The camp caters very well to early morning safaris and took breakfast orders the night before and had everything ready at the requested time. This is a great service! Additionally, a vegetarian option was always available for dinners and the prices were reasonable.

“Comfortable, clean cabins with good meals.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 July 2010

We arrived about 8:30PM after a ten hour drive. The staff was waiting and prepared a meal for us despite the hour. They helped us arrange transport the next day to the Kazinga Channel and Mweya lodge, then a game drive our second day. The cabins are quite nice with porches, basic and clean bathrooms and showers. The camp is somewhat remote, but accessible. The staff does a very good job with meals. Overall, comfortable and very good value for the price.

“amazing location and excellent value!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 July 2010

Simba Safari Camp is located in the heart of Queen Elizabeth National Park in Uganda. The rooms are modest, but very clean and comfortable. Beds were very comfortable. Each room has a private front porch and lovely landscaping featuring some of Africa's finest flowers and plants. The staff were very helpful even having extra flashlights and umbrellas on hand if needed. Knowing you will be rising early to embark on a safari, the staff confirm your breakfast selection and have it ready for you along with tea and coffee. Within ten minutes from leaving the camp and heading on our safari we spotted several elephants... excellent location! This is the best value for your money!
