We stayed in the wilderness camp on X-mas day and enjoyed our time immensely. We stayed in on of the new tents (if that's what you can call it ;-)). The bed was very comfy, they have bush showers which you need to order and the water was mixed at the requested temperature. Our lunch was a nice two course lunch with main and dessert, for dinner we had a three cource dinner with a traditional X-mas dish as main (filled turkey). All the food served was excellent. Great service and friendly staff. All in all a perfect stay during X-mas.

A warm welcome and this really did feel like being in the wilderness. Large tent and plenty of hot water for a shower in the morning. Good food served in a lovely central area overlooking the river, games, books and magazinesare available if you want them which is a nice touch for those who are there for longer stays, unfortunately we were only there for one night. A fire at night if you want to sit and have a drink down by the river. Good selection at breakfast with hot tea and coffee whenever you want it.

This was by far the most expensive accomodation we stayed in during our visit to Uganda so we were expecting something fairly special. We stayed here for 2 nights. Unfortunately the experience just didn't reflect the price. We have also stayed at a number of tented camps in Tanzania and this just didn't compare to what you get there.

Our first issue is with the tents. For a tented safari camp they were very small and had very poor ventilation. They got incredibly hot during the day as they aren't really shaded so during the day you don't want to be in there. They are also very sparten inside. If there are 2 of you with 2 decent sized bags there isn't really anywhere to put anything. Also at night the light bulb in the tent is so poor it's actually quite difficult to see. The tents have bucket showers (which produce a very short trickle of water) and chemical toilets to be used at night. (There are communal flush toilets to be used during the day). I found the chemical toilets quite difficult to use - all the levers were very stiff. The tents were also very close together - there were no trees or anything growing between them so it didn't really feel private. We could hear everything that the people in the next tent said to each other. The tents are also set back a bit from the river so there is no view of the river from the tents.

The service also wasn't great. We were kept waiting for ages when we checked in with no explaination. It all felt very perfunctory with no warmth behind it.

The food was good with four course dinners every night. However, there is no choice so if you are a picky eater (we aren't) then that might cause you a problem. The food was nice. However, it was the only place in Uganda where I had any tummy problems. There is free tea and coffee (including herbal tea) available whenever you like from the dining tent.

There is a charging tent with 24 hour electricity that you can use to charge camera batteries (you might want to label your chargers before you go to save any confusion).

They are currently in the process of constructing new larger tents so there was some building noise during the day while we were there.

It does get quite noisy at night - the animals make quite a lot of noise - so you might want to bring some earplugs.

We did see some monkeys in the trees above the camp one morning, but no elephants by the river.

On our game drives we saw some of the tree climbing lions, a shoebill, and a leopard (a very long way away). There were lots of kob, tobi, buffalo and babboons and many species of birds (no elephants though). However, compared to the game reserves of Tanzania the game here is very sparse. I was glad we only had two nights as I didn't think the game in the area justified any more than that (unless you are a very keen birder).

We only stayed one night as an intermediate stop between QE. NP and BWINDI NP but we advise future travellers at least a second night . Camp location is outstanding along the Ntungwe river and tents are constructed with space in between to get more pricvacy . Central lounge , dining and relaxing area under one tatched roof but close to the river terrace deck . Overall accomodation far above our expectations on arrival , very friendly-helpfull introduction and welcoming drink on top . Lunch and diner dishes of very good quality and well serviced by staff .
The main goal of our stay and various game drives in the park was focussed on finally spotting the tree climbing lions ....which we have seen due to the dedication and experience of our private driver / guide Big Sam of Matoke tours Kampale . We still wonder how he managed to find them in a tree ( thank you ) .
The tent with veranda is very comfortable , big twin beds with muskito net , the bathroom lay-out is special due to the water buckets to be filled outside with hot water. On request you can get as much hot water as you want to take a shower ....staff is very cooperative on this item.
Local and special woven floormats are part of the inside decoration in the tent and clean.
Amazing to us after entering the tent , a lot of solar power switches and sockets are installed and constantly on service .
Fire place at the evening near the river on the terrace deck is lovely and part of the dark evening - night and plenty of stars to spot on top , how relaxing with a beer or glass of wine , is this real African live ????
Management of high level and keeping an eye constantly on the servicing visitors . Info on the website does comply with reality and experiences on site , congratulations .
