We were so priviliged to stay at the Retreat in Selous this year. We had a hard schedule, travelling around Tanzania, and then, suddenly, found ourselves in this haven of tranqulity and peace! It was fantastic! Uma and her team could not do enough for us. We were allocated the most amazing, secluded, room - no, suite - actually. Neither room nor suite can describe the luxury we were afforded on the banks of the fantastic Rufiji river, awash with hippos, birds, crocs and everything else you would expect. Uma and her team (including her lovely husband and darling son, bruno) were so attentive, and the food was fabulous. The Retreat is built around the most amazing old Fort, which, in itself, is absolutely amazing,but the actual accommodation is second to none. Totally, holistic and sensuous. You can go at your own pace - which, when travelling around Africa is a delight. Safari in the morning - or afternoon - it doesn't matter. Uma and her team will accommodate you. Fabulous "fireside" dinners after a sundowner on the banks of the river - can't tell you how much we were chilled out by all of this. So worth every penny! We loved it and would recommend it to all.
