“Great people”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2012

When you read about a host you look for words such as hospitable, polite, professional. Well, to that I would add- bravery, goodness and integrity.

Dar Ardar’s is nice and welcoming. Rooms can be cold in winter but there is a beautiful warm sitting place; views from the roof tops (with sofas and tables) are fabulous. The place is tastefully furnished in a traditional way.

Our review though is mainly to thank Mohammed who risked his life when organising and carrying out a rescue operation to save the less clever of us (...) at an altitude of 3100 meters during the night. Mohammed has concern for people all the way. He would rather make less profit but feel he has treated fellow beings well.

Mohammed is an excellent guide who can be trusted with any hiking trip. Hamid who cooks and looks after the place is a fabulous guy. There is always a smile on his face. He is happy to live and happy to help. Go there and partake some of the good nature, optimism and positivity of these people. Thank you, Imazighen Men! (I & K).

“Fantastic place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 October 2011

Lovely simple clean room, stunning roof terrace views, the best food in morocco and superb service. We stayed for 2 nights going for local walks (unguided, highly recommended with advice from Mohammed).
Highlight: stargazing when the electricity cut out in town.
Only negative: very hard matresses!

Room Tip: The one at the top!

“More personality than the Kasbah!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 October 2011

Wanted to hike the high atlas, and read in many place about the Kasbah near Imlil. Saw reviews of Dar Adrar, and decided to give it a chance........great time, great value....same views. Yes we had the sme views...could see the Kasbah from our terrace. Of course for the price, not the amenities, rooms more Spartan, but nice. The Dar is run by Mohamed...who is often busy leading hike to the mountain. Hamid, who was always around, took great care of us, showing us the trails, and advice on the area. We ate at the Dar one night, and Hamid was the cook, and a good one. Good food, local tangine, soup, and fresh fruit...of course bread.
The high atlas presents nice hikes, cooler weather than Marrakech....a great time.

“Excellent riad”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 October 2011

Initally booked for one night, ended up staying for 2 nights. Really cozy riad, about 10 minute walk from imlil. The room was basic but clean and comfortable and shower was fine you just needed to let it run a bit for the hot water to come hot.

The view was awesome from the roof top terrace and there was also a cozy lounge area. The service was excellent, the guy spoke very good English and was really helpful in walking us to the start of the trail so we didn't need to pay for a guide.

I would definitely recommend the food there it was the best meal we ate in morocco, we made the error on the first night of eating in town only to be told in town that we needed to order our meal at lunch as tagimes etc take hours to cook so had a pizza which wasnt great. breakfast was basic, bread, spreads and eggs, but fine.

Overall a great stay, good service, excellent value for money and the walk up to it from imlil is definitely worth it for the views.

Room Tip: I thought the roof top room was the best with the terrace.

“An inexpensive hotel with fantastic views and great food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 August 2011

We stayed at Dar Adrar for two nights in August whilst on an 18 day family tour of Morocco. It was the cheapest accomodation that we stayed in but of the 6 hotels that we visited it is the one that we would definitely return to. The staff were friendly, the rooms (although basic) were clean and the food was fantastic (and great value at less than £6 for a 3 course dinner.)

I would definately return to Dar Adrar, perhaps to climb Mount Toubkal.
