“Excellent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

We visited this Hotel for nine nights at the end of January. Firstly, Air Mauritius flights both into and out of Mauritius was pretty awful. The food was stale, so inedible.
The transfer to the hotel was easy and the arrival was lovely. We were welcomed by Carole who took our details etc with a smile and it was all completed quickly.
We were then showed to our Deluxe room, which even though was the cheapest room there, was delightful. The bathroom was well equipped, the kingsize bed comfortable. Our only complaint would be the ineffective air conditioning. The temperature was fabulous, over night minimum was 24 degrees!
The food was delicious, breakfast was eveything you could wish for. Dinner was a buffet and that was excellent and varied. We didn't see the need to try the other restaurants.
Drinks were very expensive. The hotel was fairly quiet, so there was plenty of room on the many beaches available.
The boat trips to Ill aux cerfs went every 20 minutes, likewise to the other island - this was particularly lovely.
We didn't play golf but heard from others that it was challenging but good.
The staff at the hotel are all very good, special mention must go to restaurant staff and our 2 butlers.
We went walking with Lions & Tigers at Casela (see my other review), worthwhile excursion.
There were a number of repeat guests and we can understand why. We don't return to hotels as there are so may others to try, but would recommend this one.

We had been looking forward to going to this Hotel for a long time. Idyllic in all ways from the photos and indeed the location was great.
We went to the trouble of booking directly with the Hotel which was the first mistake - usually it is better than through a travel agent - and they charged an 'arm and a leg' for the room, but we thought that as a one time visit it was probably worthwhile as they would look after us better - or at least give us a good room.
Sadly, the adventure started to go pear shape when we arrived at the airport and Immigration decided to only give us the exact number of days we were staying in Mauritius - 4 - with a British Passport we have never felt so constrained.
At the Hotel, we thought that we would be warmly greeted but instead we were treated as if we were on a package tour - it was truly dreadful - hanging around for someone to check us in, and not even the usual courtesies you get in a good Hotel anywhere else in the world
Eventually we were shown to our room, which was an ocean front, which was quite picturesque, but the room itself was nothing special - it was in a time warp.
We would never return again, and next time maybe try the Seychelles.

Had a great great experience at le Touessrok! We had gone there on our honeymoon. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The hotel is very clean, lot many activities within the hotel, Excellent services, We had butler for our room service and he did great job. The hotel is true blend of luxury and entertainment. The balcony opened to the wide view of beach and sea!! The room was spacious and with beautiful décor. Every night there was nice arrangements of flowers and candles for romantic ambience. We had complimentary fruits everyday in our room. We had complimentary golf lesson too which was fun. They have boat rides to their private island which was very relaxing and beautiful. Me and my husband had perfect honeymoon at Le Touessrok. We will highly recommend it and will def go there again.

“We died and went to heaven...”

We spent our honeymoon in Le Touessrok and it was a dream-comes-true holiday. Imagine a beach with golden sands, lapped by turquoise and jade waters of the Indian Ocean, and surrounded by paradise gardens with swaying palms and thatched roofs of the beach umbrellas. How much more romantic can it be?
From the moment we arrived we were treated as celebrities; the staff were always efficient, friendly, warm, and eager to please. They are very proud to win all the awards for the best service and not without reason. All guests are treated like royalty and most of the time it feels very genuine and honest.

As honeymooners we were upgraded to Frangipani junior suite, which was comfortable, tidy and spacious. Do not expect an opulent Dubai décor, but functional, well kept and very clean modern rooms equipped in everything you may need, including coffee espresso machines. Bathrooms are fantastic, with huge oval bathtubs and lovely step-in showers, fluffy bath robes and excellent amenities. There is a bath menu with all sorts of exotic baths that your butler may prepare for you at an additional cost (or for free if he feels like it), which - I do not have to add - we enjoyed a lot.

The food was excellent. We dined at Safran once and it was OK, but I much preferred less pretentious atmosphere of the main buffet restaurant. There was always a large selection of freshly prepared food and desserts to die for. We often had our breakfast on the terrace, where we could bask in the morning sun observing beautiful and somewhat cheeky Mauritian birds. It was very pleasurable.

There are plenty of activities you can take part in free of charge, including tennis, archery and water-skiing. Both islands belonging to the hotel are brilliant, our favourite being Ilot Mangerie with plenty of canaries and other birds, picture postcard beautiful beaches and again extremely polite and efficient service. It is a real paradise, with bright colours and all the calm of the world. You just cannot stop smiling.

The resort is designed in such a way that it feels half empty even when actually there are many guests – you only realise at meal time how many other people are there. We were always easily able to find a secluded cove when we felt like enjoying the beauty of this place in private.

When I read the reviews about le Touessrock, people often mentioned that staying here would drain your wallet. I cannot agree with this. The only things that are costly are alcoholic drinks and SPA treatments, which is the case in most 5* hotels. (Well, I must admit the prices at their hair salon are clearly insane). But I was rather surprised that if you decided to finish your dinner with espresso, tea or water they would not charge you for it at all. We only paid extra for alcohol and soft drinks.

I think the best summary will be to say, that when we travel, we usually do not spend all days in the hotels, no matter how luxurious they are. We rather try to explore and see as much as possible and disappear after early breakfast only to come back for a late dinner. In Le Touessrock we stayed in the hotel for quite a few days, as there were so many things to do and such beautiful places to see, we just did not feel like going out.

Room Tip: Frangipani junior suites have excellent bathrooms
