Our stay was very relaxing and enjoyable. Breakfast was outstanding, will not leave hungry. Property of Wagener Est. B&B is beautiful.

This was a return trip to Wagener Estate. This trip we brought along another couple to enjoy the local wineries and some time getting reaquainted while relaxing at the inn. As usual the innkeeper greeted us and made us feel welcome. We stayed in the Niagara Room which is beautifully furnished with cherry furnishings which include a huge Empire Bed. Our friends stayed in the Delaware Room which has its own entrance and is decorated in a cottage theme. The rooms were impeccably spotless. Breakfast was served on the veranda each morning and they were scruptious. We especially enjoyed the broccoli omelets. As usual the grounds were well taken care of and there is lots of space to walk around to enjoy the surroundings. We look forward to another visit to Wagener Estate.
Having stayed at many b&b's, I must say that Wagener Estate ranks high on my list. My fianceè and I had a wonderful stay at this historic inn. The innkeeper was friendly and helpful with suggestions of resturantes, and directing us to local hiking trails. The breakfast was delicious and more than enough to keep us energized throughout the day at the wineries. Rooms were comfortable and very clean, and best of all, quiet! Would recommend staying at this B&B to anyone! Will return soon!
Stayed 2 nights at the Wagener Estate while touring wineries in the region. The Inn is in a very historic home (1796 I believe) but lacks charm. Many of the furnishings in the bedroom seemed out of place - neither antique nor new - rather just dated. Nothing was wrong with them, they just seems out of place and inappropriate. Bed was comfortable, the bathroom small, but fine. Breakfast both days was very good. Innkeeper was pleasant, but not friendly - which suited us just fine. Found Penn Yan to be a bit run down and will probably stay in another town on another trip.
I'm really torn on how to write this review because I can't say that anything was really wrong with this inn. But nothing knocked my socks off either.
The inn is very attractive and clean with a pleasant front porch for reading or just enjoying the sound of birds and the smell of the Niagara grapes grown on a nearby trellis. We stayed in the Delaware room which is around back and has its own private entrance. The room itself was clean (although much smaller than the photo online makes it appear), but the bathroom was very small and the television (across the room from the bed) was about 13 inches. We enjoyed the privacy of having our own space, but the floor was very creaky and the bathroom door badly needed some oil - any midnight trips to the bathroom by one of us definitely woke up the other.
The inn is in town although it is up a hill so you don't hear traffic noise at all. And it is right across the street from the Keuka Lake Outlet Trail which offers about 7 miles of hiking - some of which is very scenic. The location also makes it very convenient to visit either Keuka or Seneca Lakes.
Our breakfasts were good and hearty, holding us throughout the morning. But they were foods that I cook at home (pancakes, french toast, etc). We would have liked to be treated just a bit.
The innkeeper was helpful if we asked questions, but otherwise we found her to be somewhat disinterested for an innkeeper. Even our 'orientation' when we arrived was a bit robotic.
Again - nothing was really wrong, but it also wasn't spectacular.
I would recommend this inn but would definitely be sure not to set the expectations too high.
